Excellent value with an effective locking action
For anyone happy to undertake some reasonably basic DIY, this is a very good lock.My situation was a log cabin euro type lock had failed. It was never the most robust lock, and was a bespoke design that made other off-the-shelf locks difficult to fit.The biggest challenge when fitting is drilling the hole for the barrel. I have a fair number of tools, but still needed to buy a 28mm spade bit.The can be used for both left and right handed doors, but when using it for the 'wrong' hand, the direction of rotation of the key is counter intuitive. Purchasers should also be aware that the key can only be withdrawn when the bolt is fully extended after a full 360 degrees of key rotation. I.e. there has to be 67mm of room for the bolt to extend.I am pleased with the neat appearance and effectiveness of this lock now that it is installed. Also good that it comes with so many spare keys. Finally, make sure you choose the version with the correct barrel length. I thought the 50mm version would be okay, but when I measured up, I realised I needed the 70mm version, which proved to be the case.

Strong locks, easy to fit, great for gates and garage doors.
I was really sure what to expect when purchasing a pair of these locks a few months back, as they were very very good value.I quickly realised they were a very strong and good product when I open the boxes and check the locks. I fitted them to a garage door and they made the whole set-up so much more secure as well as stopping the doors rattling during strong gusts of wind. Fitting was very simple and the locks come with multiple high security keys and a nice polished bronze look bezel to give a smart finish to the job, which is a nice touch.I am very happy with the locks so far, especially at that price but also in operation as I open and lock the garage everyday, so I would definitely recommend this product.

Quality declines within a month.
I have bought 4 of these over a couple of months. They look good and do the job for a few weeks. Then they go down hill, rust appears on the barrel and the screws are rusting. The keys are difficult to get in the locks. The appearance of the barrel fades in a short space of time. They are no good for wooden gates as the gates go up and down with the weather. Doors go down when wet and up when dry. The buckle does not allow this to happen. Will have to change to similar as I have 4 holes in 4 gates.

Very sturdy lock
Lock is nice and sturdy but could do with the metal bit that the lock slides into being a little bit wider as when the gate swells in the rain and drops a bit they don't always line up. Can be tricky to lock from the outside as you can't see where the slider is going.

Very strong lock
Great lock, very strong. Only one thing to know is that you need to use the key to open and lock the lock, not like an Yale style where once you open it, you can just pull it shut, you have to use a key

Seems ok but don't think it will last
Bought this to secure my side gate which was previously bolted from the back but i wanted to be able to unlock it from the front to bring timber and other supplies in without traipsing round to unlock the bolt.Fitting was easy enough, simply cut a hole for the cylinder, screw the lock into place and you're done. However comparing this with the more expensive GateMate branded version fitted to my shed (2 years old and running fine) it's clear this one isn't as well made, the lock doesn't turn as smoothly or easilly (even with no "load") and occasionally sticks! As a result i can't see it lasting long before it fails and gets stuck in the locked position. It'll do the job and it's definitely cheaper than most but the reasons for that might become more clear in the future, take my advice and spend a little more unless it's only for temporary use.

Secure gate
I got this to replace a standard rim lock on my back gate. With the old lock a good kick could probably have opened my gate. This is a good quality, sturdy lock that makes me feel very secure.Very easy to install but do read the instructions so you don't put it on upside down!

Sturdy and strong
The media could not be loaded. I purchased the 70mm to replace a paper thin lock which came with my shed for £17.99 at the time of writing this. It came in a timely manner and nothing missing. 5 keys is a bonus I'm case the kids loose one. The mechanism seems good and smooth. I did not use the side bracket bit it is nice that it has a little wiggle room if a large gate was to hang a little over time or room for shrinkage of wood in dry weather the only downside is the ornamental covers will not slide all the way over the barrel as mine protrudes a bit. However it was not really needed overall a good purchase and would bit again. It was the cheapest one at the time but if it similar priced as others it is still a good buy
