Q: Given the 16:9 aspect ratio, how high up does the doorbell need to be mounted to see faces? I’m concerned our existing wiring is too low.

That's the beauty of this device it does come with batteries and they last a long time (if you turn off the ring light around the bell button). What I will suggest is to set it up with the battery, get acquainted with the device and then use the adhesive to place it on the ideal position. Test is the main word on that one. Just test adjust before confirming the position desired, I will also suggest to have a set of rechargeable batteries for it. If you still want to use the wires I am sure you can extend and use a protective bracket (plenty of solution to hide cables on Amazon or even the Range if you are in the UK).

Q: Can areas in the video be set to not detect motion?

Yes. You can set activity zones in both the Aqara and Apple Home apps. You can also block out areas of the video using the Aqara app.

Q: Can i view a constant video feed in homekit with this, unlike my nest doorbell which drops the feed constantly, i would be using it wired ?

Hi Dave. Yes you can that’s the best thing about it. So if your a HomeKit user you get live feed, two way talk and also HomeKit secure video. (Records clips and save them privately) Beat doorbell for HomeKits uses by far. I’d defo recommend

Q: Do this need a Aqara/Zigbee hub ?

No hub needed it as it connects to Wi-Fi through the ringer/repeater
