T&G 11950 Woodware Tip Top Mill Set, Black, 85 x 140 x 175 cm

I've spent too much money over the years on unsatisfactory salt and pepper mills. They've looked the part but have clogged up or broken and no attempted repairs have been successful. So, this time I'd spend a little more on a different design - and, so far,I'm delighted. These mills look good and appear to be very well constructed. The bodies are glass and the tops and mechanisms appear to be sturdily constructed with the grinding faces ceramic. Apparently the mills can be cleaned in the dish washer - a big advantage. The two mills are identical, the only difference being the contents (they come pre-filled) - this could be a big advantage if you were unlucky enough to break one, as they are available as single units as well as the set of two I bought.In use, they're great. Unlike most mills, you turn them upside down before rotating the cap to grind and this means you don't end up with ground condiment all over the table when you stand the mills up again and your storage area remains cleaner too. The size of the grind is easily regulated by the adjusting wheel on the top of the grinder.I've nothing negative to say about this product - well worth the £23.85 I paid and are certainly the best I've ever bought. I'll add to the review after I've used them for an extended period but so far, so very good.UPDATE Feb 2018: So pleased with these, I've just bought a second set.

Love these. I got fed up with having a bits of salt and pepper in my cupboard, as the grinder was at the bottom on my old set. Invested in these after some research. It is nice being able to change the level of grinding of your salt or pepper corns. They are so easy to fill and use. No mess and even grinding. Great investment.

I really like the fact that these grinders do a good job of grinding and they's don't leave any mess on the table! This is because you invert them to use them, unlike most grinders that have the grinder mechanism at the bottom and when you put them down on the table you get the residue of your grindings on the table cloth.I also like the fact that they have glass containers so that you can easily see which is salt and which is pepper, you can easily see when the things are running low and need topping up.The lifetime guarantee is a useful benefit. I'm keeping the box and receipt in the loft just in case!

Great salt & pepper grinders - no mess on your table either! Recommend.

Further edit! 26/7/18I must apologise and update my review here as it transpires that the mill isn't broken at all and the plastic ring is in fact meant to come out for cleaning or replacing the grinder mechanism inside. After giving it all a good clean and removing the shards of peppercorn the plastic ring has popped back into place and the mill continues to function just fine. Back up to 5 stars!Edit 25/7/18 :I originally bought the set from here nearly 3 years ago now and they have both performed grinding duties admirably... until a couple of weeks ago. The inner plastic ring around the grinding mechanism on the pepper mill became detached and has fallen out! :( It doesn't seem to have effected its performance but I would rather not have bits starting to break off so soon especially considering their price.I have amended my original 5-stars down to 3-stars.

Brilliant set. It was a Christmas gift and the recipient told me that they work a treat. They grind the salt and pepper very well - not too fine and not too coarse. There's no mess either as you have to turn the grinders upside down to use them.

This is the second set of salt and pepper grinders we have bought. We use them daily, and have had the first set some two years or more. The salt one occasionally clogs up slightly and this is mainly due to the natural tendency for salt to absorb moisture from the atmosphere. Put the salt pot on a radiator occasionally, and it behaves itself.T&G make really good grinders and these certainly are good value for money. They look fairly stylish too I think

Disappointed that the item had come open and all the pepper was loose in the packaging. This was supposed to be a gift and now I need to open it to clean it and put it back together. Looks second hand
