Made in the USA - Strong and well built
I made the mistake of going cheap and ended up with a poorly made Chinese log cant/lifter. The handle bent on the first try to move these heavy oak logs. This Wood-Mizer 60" log cant is an absolute brut. The spike bites in deep and holds. I was able to roll these logs with ease. Lots of leverage and holding power to turn large and heavy logs. It is very well made and easy to use. This one is a keeper.

Glad I forked out the money for this
This thing is an absolute beast. I read a bunch of reviews on various cant hooks and peaveys from wood handled to steel and at all sorts of price ranges. I was planning on cheaping out, but after attempting to move one of the ~30" dia. cottonwood logs by other means, I realized that I should just get a good tool. This thing absolutely delivered. It is very, very solid. With a little basic technique, the hook bites deep and holds solid. I got the 48" length to move the logs that resulted from 2 very big, very wet cottonwoods. Trunk sections were about 4 feet long, and easily 40" near the base and probably 34" or so at the other end (they tapered quickly since they were at the trunk). This thing still managed to bite on what seemed almost like a flat surface to it and allowed me to roll them solo up a slight grade. I did need a chock to kick behind and it was hard work, but this thing did the job. Any less of a tool would have been not enough. Average log size was probably ~26"x10', some bigger some smaller depending the part of the tree. This thing moved them all. Specs say it will do 8" to 32". Less than 12" or so this thing felt almost pointless as it was tricky to grab the small log since the tool was almost too big, not to mention logs that size you can probably just heave around without it. On the other end of the spectrum, it starts to open pretty wide after 32" but like I mentioned above, I rolled stumps that were well over 32, just pick your place well and work the hook in before you give it muscle. I even got one with good paint on the tip, unlike some reviews where the paint seems to be delaminating. I smashed the fore-end into concrete, gravel, and dirt and it's held up so far after several tons of logs moved. All in all, if you have only a log or two and they're not *that* big, pizza and a few neighbors is probably cheaper. This is a serious tool for serious logs, and it does great.

Heavy Duty, force multiplier
Works great for moving even huge logs. I successfully moved some 28-inch diameter logs with this bad boy all by myself.

Top quality
Great quality - have been using this for an extended period now and has made rolling logs a breeze.

Built like an old Buick.
This thing is tough and gives excellent leverage. I do wish it oped a little further but it's not a deal breaker by any means. I may modify the hook at some point to let it open further. The hook itself is much sharper than I expected so it bites into the log version well. This and the plastic wedges I bought make cutting wood so much easier and safer. I can roll a 24" log around like it's nothing. I think it will work great for even bigger logs. The maintenance thing to take away from this is that this cant hook is heavy duty. I expect it to last the rest of my life and I like not having a wood handle to break or rot.

Doesn’t handle bigger logs well….
As other reviewers have mentioned- horrible paint/powder coat job!!!Paint is coming off in several areas. 🙄The opening could be larger in my opinion, as it doesn’t seem to be able to grab logs well that are over 20” or so- otherwise a good sturdy tool with a bad paint job.I’d just expect a better coating for the price.

Best purchase in a long time!
This cant really helps move logs. I was cutting a log that was half buried in the ground and there is no way I'd have been able to move it manually without hooking it to my truck. This tool will definitely reduce the risk of injury from moving logs. Really well built and can feel the heat in the product - wish I would have bought one years ago.

It's bigger than it looks
What a surprise when I opened the box. It's a beast...and that's a good thing. the handle is bigger around than it looks in the picture. Sturdy as heck. It's my first cant hook to go with my first bandsaw mill. Wow, what difference having the right tool makes. Much easier, safer, and faster to use a cant hook than trying to turn a log by hand and a long 2x4. I'm glad I didn't go cheap as I'm sure with the size of the logs I'm milling I'd probably break one of those cheaper ones - it's not cheaper if breaks during milling day and you have to buy another. This is one tool I'm glad I didn't go cheap.
