Not useful for real weatherproof gloves.
So I work in Seattle, my commute is 35 min on my motorcycle. I bought these to dry my gloves in the 8 hrs I'm at work. They're compact and easily fit in my tail bag. I wear gerbing heated waterproof gloves and sometimes leather waterproof gloves depending on how cold it is. As with most riding gloves out there and riding year round in Seattle. Water will eventually get through. Rained all the way to work, some heavy rain and I felt water on the tips of my fingers and some got in between the jacket and glove making the wrist part wet. After 8 hrs of using this glove dryer which everyone else on here says dries their stuff in no time. My gloves are still wet on the inside. I can see these working on tennis shoes and thin gloves maybe. But they're useless when it comes to actual items that are meant to take on the rain. This thing does put out some nice heat. But it just made my glove warm and wet. And once you take the heater away youre right back to being cold and wet. I wouldn't recommend this heater as an actual portable dryer.

Easy to use
Easy to use, very effective. I forgot it one night and left it on overnight and it did not damage my shoes and they where very toasty.

Amazing!
Works great for drying out shoes from sweat, rain, or the washer. There is no switch on mine, but I never had an issue leaving it plugged in. Most shoes take overnight to dry, so I just rotate the pairs throughout the week.

I was seriously skeptical because they were so inexpensive. Used them for the first time last night. Boots were absolutely SOAKED, from working in the rain all day. I put them in my boots, plugged them in and went to bed. I got up this morning and the outside was still wet looking (they are steal toed so not surprising), but completely dry on the inside. Awesome!!
