Fantastic economical machine.
Great machine. I did a lot of research on this item and have definitely made the right choice. It is simple to operate, emptying the condensation drawer is straightforward and cleaning the fluff filter is a breeze. Several reviews stated that the heat setting needed finely adjusting (all in the instructions) but having used the dryer a few times as it was factory-set, I have had no problems with some washing being left damp at the end of a cycle, everything has been dry. Admittedly, the programmes do run for quite a while but that is not a problem, knowing that very little electricity is being used. My previous vented tumble dryer lasted 18 years but was an enormous consumer of power and is destined for the tip. All my appliances are now Bosch and I feel it is well worth the little extra cost for build quality and reliability. Overall I am a very happy customer and would highly recommend this heat-pump tumble dryer.

Bosch WTW863S1GB - This is a great dryer.
Amazing value - we've had it six months. Great construction. Take the time to read and work through the instructions - you will benefit. This dryer has sensible settings for your different types of clothes, and whether you want to get the machine to leave them slightly damp for ironing. You can even put them all in at this ironing setting and then just remove those for ironing and leave the others in and then set the machine for the cupboard dry setting, and the machine doesn't go back to the beginning, because it is always monitoring the dryness of the clothes. Please note that, with this type of dryer, the time to dry clothes is very dependent on the air temperature: in February it may take 3 hours to dry the same clothes that take only one hour to dry in July.

New arrival in the family so on every day and very happy with its performance this winter and its varied programs
How did I live without this? If your thinking of investing in a heat sink dryer, I would only hesitate over which one to buy.Heat Pump technology works a treat.Clothes do not come out "hot" but do come out dry - adjustable drying sensor when setting up (see instructions).New arrival in the family so on every day and very happy with its performance this winter and its varied programs.(not best suited for use in cold rooms/garages due to heat pump technology)

Useless. I've persevered with this but it just doesn't work. It whirrs away for hours and hours and doesn't actually do what it's supposed to - dry. Don't bother

A solid tumble dryer - very happy
The performance of this tumble dryer seems very good. It is clearly efficient with an A++ rating, has a nice wide opening door (right hand hinge only), led lighting inside so you can see what's in there and is easy to use (once you've read the instructions to understand the various available settings). It has easy to clean fluff and condensate filters. The condensate drawer is top loaded, so you don't have to be bent down to pull it out, and with a self-cleaning condenser there shouldn't be any kneeling on the floor to clean this machine! The double fluff filter is very easy to pull out and seems to do the job just fine. The 7kg load only applies to cottons. If you are drying mixed/synthetics then the load capacity falls to as low as 3kg, depending on what exactly you're putting in. But this doesn't seem to have been an issue thus far for our family loads.Occasionally, with a mixed density item load the odd item won't quite be totally dry, but it seems obvious that this is because the main settings on the dryer work using sensors so as not to overdry items - so if the majority of the load is completely dry then it will stop. One can get around this either by taking the dry items out and putting the machine on again, or using a setting with a timed programme (which doesn't use the sensors). We have had to use the setting to 'fine adjust' the dryness of items - something which other reviews I've read have commented about. This is easy enough to do, and the instructions are clear and provided with the machine. Bosch state this is necessary depending on the type of water the clothes have been washed in - we're in a hard water area, which seems to be the issue needing 'dryness' to be increased (which slightly increases the drying time). The only feature we'd have wanted that this doesn't have is the ability to use a drainage kit to avoid the need to empty the consendate drawer at all. Otherwise - really happy thus far!

Quite honestly for a small household I don't see the need for so many programmes - we just don't generate enough dirty laundry to subdivide cottons and synthetics unless I only ...
Bought to replace another condenser tumble dryer, it is a bit quieter but as it's in a closed kitchen the noise wasn't an issue with the previous one.Chosen by my other half who is very into economy and energy saving, my gripe with it is that it decides when the clothes are dry, and there is no way to get them any dryer. I have it on the highest temperature setting, and so far have only used the longest cotton, extra dry setting with any success. To get this success I have found I need to sort the clothes more carefully into similar weights and do smaller wash loads. As I am now doing four runs of washing machine/tumble dryer for what would previously have been two. I don't see how any savings are being made at all and am sure it's going to be more expensive. Yes I know I could do one bigger wash load and tumble it in two halves but what a faff.Quite honestly for a small household I don't see the need for so many programmes - we just don't generate enough dirty laundry to subdivide cottons and synthetics unless I only wash two or three items at a time (I'm already down to only six or seven) but I guess in a household with children as well some of the other programmes would be useful. For me, dry and iron dry would be enough, but the latter was easy enough with my old one as I just took the to-be-ironed items out before the end of the cycle.I am going to contact Bosch to see if it is possible to make the sensor less sensitive. I can't see anything about it in the not very clear instructions.
