Review: Exactly what I expected. - Arrived not far off to the expected date. Has all the content I imagined it would. Only complaint would be that the included art book is rather short and does not have any behind the scene sketches and concept arts, instead going for completed illustration you commonly find online. Besides that I am very happy with it. Thanks to desertcart for the availability and delivery as well. Review: Poor - I should have written this review a long time ago, maybe saved somebody some money. Gurren Lagann is one of my favourite series to date. This movie however just isn't worth the money it's asking for. It's a typical anime """movie""", just the series that already exists sliced up and stitched back together missing a lot of events and character development, in this case for some important characters who otherwise appear in this """movie""" with little reason given to the audience to care...A big deal when this even happens with the antagonist. It's a mess. I struggled to watch it even as an existing fan who thought "maybe this will be okay since I already know the plot, just a refresher of the cool bits". In reality the amount of missing plot is just too glaring, not to mention when I say the series is just recycled and cut up, literally 95% of this thing is recycled animation from the series. I don't know why it costs as much as it does when they've put next to no effort in actually creating anything new for this release. The one bit of praise I'll give it is that they did actually (shockingly) reanimate and redo the ending segment. It still has the same point to it, it's just a lot more 'grand' and takes the already over the top ending of the original to the next level in terms of ridiculous (which with this series is a good thing). HOWEVER, just watch that on Youtube. This at best should have been an alternative ending on the series bluray bonus features. The 5-10 minutes of extra footage really isn't worth buying this typical trash heap of a """movie""". Overall, not worth your time or money. If you've never watched Gurren Lagann the for the love of God don't start with this, watch the full series. If you're an existing fan, just watch the series again. If you're hardcore and must own everything Gurren Lagann, buy it I guess, nothing I could say would probably change your mind.

It great, you get the original series in subs and dub. And you get the movies, which is only in subs. You also get a small art book and for the money, it a great deal. I would recommend this to any one thinking about getting the series.

Not for me
There is not anything fundamentally wrong with this ... animation good enough ... story the same and so on but it did not grab my attention no matter how much I tried even restarting several times. That does not mean I don`t recommend it to others but I think you have to be a rather big fan of Anime or perhaps you seen something from it and you want to watch it badly. I probably going to get a lot of fans angry but let me repeat NOTHING WRONG as such AND I got this together with other Anime but it was always touch and go wether to buy this title couse I had a bad feeling it wasnt for me and yep it wasn`t. But check it out and if you are on this page that means you have an interest in it so if you are on the fence take an extra think about it look up more about it ... what does it hurt? Just not my cup of tea that`s all.

Your drill....
If you purchase this product, you will receive the TV series and movies, a little book full of concept art and it all comes in a stunning box. If I'm honest, the box art is what convinced me to get this collection. This series is amazing, essentially it's mechas of varying sizes going against each other, there's a lot of postulating and showboating. It changes pace halfway through the series but I enjoyed every second of it. The movies are retellings of the TV series with a few differences, unfortunately there's no English dub but the Japanese VAs did an excellent job. I'd say the movies aren't needed, the series itself already boasts some of the high production values in an anime, the animation is so fluid, vibrant and wacky. If you like mecha shows, you've probably already seen this series but if not, I would highly recommend it. If you're not a fan of mecha, you'll probably still enjoy it with its irreverent humour, fan service and, as previously mentioned, amazing art.

It warns you about this in the product description, but it seems fishy that an "import" doesn't have any japanese text on the case. I feel as if this product is designed to scam people. The only thing that shows up when I put in either disc is "Warning: Sorry, this disc is not compatibe with yor (I think they meant your) blu-ray player"
