The End Records will re-release the back catalogue for the three studio albums from Swedish black metal masters Dissection. The Somberlain, Storm of the Light’s Bane and Reinkaos are considered classics of the genre and defined the latter Swedish Black Metal sound, filled with Epic freezing cold guitar riffs, blasting drums & sinister vocal arrangements. Black vinyl edition of the legendary Swedish underground metal pioneers triumphant return to the metal scene after 11 years! ’Reinkaos’ is a masterpiece of ritualistic and black magical concepts best described as Anti-Cosmic Metal Of Death.

(2.5 stars) Very average at best
Dissection frontman Jon Nodtveidt was convicted of murdering a homosexual man in 1997. But he only served seven years for his crime, was released in 2004, and recorded a new Dissection album, "Reinkaos," soon thereafter. Thus, right off the bat, it's hard to think positively of this disc when you take into account that Jon is a scumbag who should still be behind bars for many years to come. But even if Jon was rightfully a free man, Dissection still shouldn't have released this album. "Reinkaos" is a pretty bad album, and a terrible swansong release (Jon has announced that this will be his band's last outing), because it will undoubtedly leave a very sour taste in the mouths of many fans.A band who has survived thirteen years (or more) is destined to eventually change their sound. But a changed sound is not always a bad thing; in fact, the band will sometimes benefit from experimenting a little bit. This is not one of those times. "Reinkaos" almost sounds like it was lifted wholesale from an In Flames or Sentenced b-side album. Instead of giving us scorching riff onslaughts and insanely fast drum blasts, we're treated to simple, uninteresting, single power chord patterns and plain, rock and roll, AC-DC-esque beats which you could probably learn how to play after just one drum lesson. The result is an album which is composed of eleven songs which are, with a couple exceptions, very boring and almost completely forgettable. The songs are kind of catchy, and many of them even have an initial bite which draw the listener in. But, unfortunately, the music is so repetitious, it's only a matter of time before the song becomes tedious (see "Xeper-I-Set" for proof). There are really only two exceptional songs on this whole record. "Nexion 218," begins with some kind of pretty acoustic noodling before turning to a catchy, skipping rhythm. And the title track is a half melodic/half crunchy instrumental which even features some soaring guitar leads. The rest of the songs, however, are very average or downright bad. Several songs (see "Black Dragon," "Dark Mother Divine," and "Internal Fire") would be throwaways if they didn't all have moderately cool guitar solos. "Chaosophia" is a very pointless acoustic interlude and clearly a filler track, and "Starless Aeon," "God Of Forbidden Light" and "Maha Kali" are all extremely boring, plunking turds which may make it hard for you to keep your eyes open."Reinkaos" sounds like Dissection wanted to release a new album, but they didn't quite know what it should sound like or how to live up to their historic legacy as a black metal band. Well, if this is the last Dissection record there will ever be, Jon should have stayed in jail and not tampered with his band's reputation. The album is worth checking out if you're a diehard fan, but make sure you approach it with much caution.

Not Your Typical Black Metal
I tend to be a fan of metal with melodic vocals, but a friend brought over a live DVD of Dissection, which piqued my interest, and subsequently motivated me to buy this album. What I found refreshing on this album was the absence of blast beats and atonal guitar solos. Instead, solid melodic progressions and rhythmic grooves pervade all the songs. I even found the vocals understandable, which help me to better assess this album. This work is a powerful statement reflecting the profound pain and emptiness of the artist's soul. No one commits suicide when they're happy--but rather to escape unbearable emotional pain. This is powerful and sincere testimony to that pain.

ANYBODY WHO FEELS THIS ALBUM ISNT PERFECT PLAINLY DOES NOT UNDESTAND MUSIC!
I'm going to keep this review short and sweet because I'm not a jack ass who feels the need to write a review that consists of ten pages about why this album is good or bad. This album is simply great! I have been working In the recording arts industry for quite some time now, mostly with metal musicians, so I know a thing or two. From start to finnish this album is nothing but pure perfection. The musical-vocal skills of Jon Nödtveidt, and the production on this album could not be better! I have worked with countless bands, been to hundreds of concerts, and own thousands of heavy metal albums and this one is by far my favorite. Dont be a dumbass, just by this album!!STAY METAL! \M/

sweden!!!
this record's rep' strikes me as similar to the contemporaneous response to the oft defiled Carcass last release-swansong.... i.e. a release that has traveled a fair distance from initial offerings and constructs a pretty awesome listening experience IF the listener can resist contextual entrapment. big Jon N. got released from prison clutching several new songs and proceeded to bulldoze expectations with a sharp, tight, review of his world via the blood, muscle, skin and bone of Dissection. form destruction is the order of the day as any 'good' death-extreme metal' should accomplish. Plus.......any lp that contains an ode to Kali Ma is right up my alley. hate it, love it i feel time has shown Reinkaos to be a masterpiece.

Deeper meaning.
Lets cut right to the point -A human body is useless unless there is an essence inhabiting it - powering it - bringing it to life. This applies to alot of things. It also does to Reinkaos. The music is nothing like the older material and a lot of people have been scorning it. However, the music is secondary to the meaning - the message. If you dont understand the lyrical content then you can't understand this album - for its true meaning and purpose.Remember what Jon said, the music is just a sonic propaganda unit for the message. Once you come to understand what it all means, you realize that the music is indeed powerful and (set-anic) magical.

The End Records edition is very good, recommended
This album is a breath of fresh air in the Black Metal genre, though not a pure form of Black Metal (some people called it "Melodic Death Metal") its a very important piece of music for me, fullfilling the lyrics requirements of Black/Death Metal with chaosophic, satanism and qliphotic verses. The End Records edition is very good, recommended. Hail the memory of Jon Nödtveidt!!!

Amazing Black Metal
A favorite of mine. The music displays a beautiful darkness throughout these songs. Energetic Metal music with a very dark theme. Perfect for all Dissection fans. You won't be disappointed with this choice. Great guitar and lyrics and powerful blast beats. Enjoy.

Everyone should love the underdog
This album seems despised by the black metal community, but if you are just a general fan of metal and like all kind of music, you should check this release out. It is melodic, full of emotions and strong moments. Not raw and upolished, or as technical as the previous Dissection album. When I think about it now, I believe it was a bit too far ahead of it's time, because it seems that lots of metal music released these days have sound that is inspired by some of the riffs and arrangements found on this album. Nödtveidt was a genius, pure and simple. Do not dismiss this album, give it a chance, and let it enter your mind. Favorite tracks: Maha Kali, Black Dragon, Nexion218/Beyond the Horizon, Xeper-I-Set.
