Another fantastic facts book from NGK
This is a very recent facts book published December 6, 2022, so it contains all the recent discoveries, such as the first image of a black hole. This hardcover book is beautiful front to back. The print quality is great, as I found no print issues with any of the pages. The design of every page is well thought out and visually interesting. Most pages are a collage of various images that invite you to inspect each element of it. My children really enjoy reading and coming back to this book. One of the best things about this fact book, and others in the series, is that it presents the information in digestible morsels, so as not to overwhelm children in the targeted age range. Heck, even for many adults this format is effective given the headline culture we now live in.The book covers all the major astrophysics subject areas, such as all the objects in our solar system, galaxies, comets, dwarf planets, space missions, great astronomers, black holes, space travel, living in space, and so much more. Your entire family is bound to learn many new things with this book. This book has my highest recommendation and is a must have for your children's library.

Great facts but word heavy
They weren’t kidding titling this book 1,000 facts! It’s surprising to open this book and seeing the density of words per page. Since this is from National Geographic, I expected some fantastic photos. I’d say half this book is filled with pages that simply list fact after fact. My 11-year-old doesn’t mind that it’s mostly reading. He is a curious kid who enjoys science and space so this is a good book. He says there are many interesting facts to learn. For that I give this book 4 stars.

Excellent book for curious kids!
Like most National Geographic Kids books, this is well-designed, interesting, and packed full of facts! Each page has a number of facts about a certain part of the universe; for example, "25 facts about comets."The best part of these facts is that they can be a jumping-off point for deeper discussions and exploration. For example, I was reading one page to my kid last night in bed and we came across a mention of M87. I mentioned to my kid that the M stands for "Messier," named after the astronomer who catalogued them. We next turned to the page about comets, and it included a discussion of how Charles Messier's main goal was to find new comets!Of course, the idea that the discoverer of astronomical objects gets to name them also tickles a kid's imagination, and we had fun imagining the names we could give things in deep space. So yeah, this is a great book to get kids excited about space!

fulfilling content for curious kids
Lots of facts. In fact, there are fact lists on every page. I was a bit surprised with the format of the book, I figured there would be a bit more than just lists of facts. Nothing too in depth here. This book makes for a good supplement to other books about space. The facts are bite sized, which allows for kids to find bits of intriguing information and will need other books to get deeper into the topics introduced here.Overall, my kids enjoyed the book, especially my 12 year old who likes the format of books like this over long form reading until she finds a topic that she finds intriguing.Review for 1,000 Facts About Space
