Practice Makes Perfect Basic Hindi (Practice Makes Perfect Series)

Exactly what I have been looking for.
This book is the perfect starting point for a child or adult wishing to learn the very basics of reading and writing in Hindi script. The lessons are so clear and concise. I really like the format. The book would be an excellent tool for native speakers teaching small children the fundamentals of the language. For non native speakers, it would still be totally possible to teach your self using this book but I personally, will need extra learning aids/ materials to help me with the correct pronunciation for vowels etc - I have a CD from another Hindi language course that undertook some years ago. A good Hindi dictionary is going to be a must have item, too. I'm really really pleased with this book and feel it will set me on the right path for future Hindi language courses.

Best book so far
Bought loads of Hindi books and this is an awesome workbook. Learn letters/words/sentances with managable tests. Answers in back. Very well made.

Good for beginners but could do with audio support
Learning Hindi with this resource can be likened to assembling flat-pack furniture – manageable if you follow the steps, though the design could benefit from some improvements. It provides a solid foundation with clear explanations and exercises that help guide you through the basics, covering areas such as understanding the Devanagari script, grammar, and vocabulary. I even managed to work through the vowels and consonants during a couple of rainy weekends. That said, the absence of accompanying audio is a significant limitation, particularly for beginners. Pronunciation in Hindi can be tricky without the support of auditory aids. Additionally, those using the Kindle version might face some difficulty due to the script tables being far too small, which can cause eye strain. This resource is useful for dedicated learners, but a version that includes audio would greatly enhance the overall learning experience.

extremely helpful
This work book starts off assuming you have no knowledge of Hindi at all a very good starting point. I do have a little knowledge as I'm teaching myself and was able to test some of it out. It deals with each topic slowly to ensure you have grasped the subject matter. I am pleased that I have been able to advance my knowledge and it has given me confidence. It was money well spent.

Useful for the home learner but lacks audio files
This is a really good resource for the home learner and I am a fan of the Practice Makes Perfect series but it could have been so much better if the publishers had provided audio files (either an a CD or online). The book is aimed at a beginner and has some great early chapters on practicing the Devangari script used in Hindi. It then moves on to learning the nuts and bolts of the language with plenty of useful exercises to consolidate the new grammar and vocabulary but its biggest flaw, bearing in mind that this book is intended for the beginner, is that there are no audio files available. This is such a shame as otherwise I really like the book. The publishers should perhaps take a look at what the Teach Yourself company do. I bought Rupert Snell's 'Get Started in Hindi' book and then downloaded for free using their (also free) app all the audio files for the book and I can play the audio on my phone as I go through the book. This surely is the way forward for language learning.

Good value, easy to understand, Devanagari and romanised text
Look this work book, easy to understand has both Devanagari and romanised text, I have only just started working through the book but I am already happy with my purchase.

Great book for the learner new to Hindi.
Started using this book to learn Hindi from scratch. Easy to follow and well laid out. Starts with the basics and progresses at a good pace. Learned the vowels and consonants in around 5 hours.
