They seem to be strong enough to support a fairly heavy static weight, but not strong enough to be used as a workbench top. I did snap a corner off through carelessness when fitting the shelves into the shelf supports. These are easy to assemble, and are fairly robust. Same issue as the larger units, if you build two levels and lift the unit, the top half can easily come detached, but once in place and loaded, this won't be an issue. So far I have only constructed two boxes. The first box set went up in 20 mins - everything fitted, no need for any adjustment - brilliant. The second set, every single joint required attention with a screwdriver to get the tabs in the slots - it must be me.. they are all made the same, so it has to be me...took ages.
