Yo! Q, where you keep your blue Ray's? In Iraq!)Well worth the monies! classic, of all time for 2010! Yeah!!

Probably best film by David Russel (along with Silver Lining Playbook) and that giving him a certain fame and reputation as one of the most interesting and innovative new directors at that time.Seen after so many years, it still keeps part of its brilliant look although that unreal photography has now become kind of clichè.NOT JUST A WAR FILMThe film is definitely brilliant because it manages to amuse and entertain while making us think and even provoke our vision of that war and, in general, of American way-to-war and mentality (see the brilliant confrontation between the american and iraqui soldiers, where the latter just show the former the contradictions and hypocrisy of his country).THE TOP SCENEAnd it even include one of the most genius and representative scenes of last 20 years: that when Walberg (trapped in an undergoundn prison in the desert) talks to his wife who is comfortably standing in her american kitchen. A single sketch that tells a lot about how the world was changing to become what it is now (this film is from 1999): a hyperconnected place where drama, war and everyday life are linked and still separated.It is one of those scenes that might have ended in Apocalypse Now if Coppola shot it 20 years later: one single scene that tells you more than an entire essay on contemporary societyMAINSTREAM BUT...Even when it seems to get back on a mainstream path where, after all, american soldiers are the good guys and there are not doubts about it, the happy ending is still achieved through an unusual, cynical and unconventional trick.Yet I think the film has a higher potential than it actually shows and develops, so it could have been even more powerful and provokingTHE BLU RAYIt presents the film in all its audiovisual unusual strenght, so the result is quite enjoyable.
