Good quality.
I could have got a generic microphone but reading comments about getting the correct plug then others saying to get adapters. I thought stuff it, spend the extra fiver and get one that is made for the camera. The sound quality is great, I had to put it behind the cheek piece of the helmet to cut out wind noise but my voice is clear and you can hear the engine noise.

Seems good - note different size jack needed on older Drift cameras.
I bought this by mistake thinking that all Drift mics were the same. I have an older DriftHD camera (1080 before the Ghost). That needs a 2.5mm mono jack whereas this comes with a 3.5mm jack. It worked fine thorugh a 3.5 to 2.5mm stereo adapter however and I then cut off the jack and put a 2.5mm one on and that works fine. There is background noise on recordings but that may be the camera rather than the mic. It is not bad noise and can also be easily removed in something like Audacity. The clip and mic body are metal so hopefully its a bit more robust than the cheapo auction site mics. I had one of those which worked fine but then one day just went pop and died. It actually happened whilst I was using it for a test at home - no abuse. The windcover is too loose and falls off straightaway on the Drift mic.Note - it is directional so will obviously work best if the end is pointing towards what you are recording.

How to set up a Drift Ghost S external microphone
Bought this after reading reviews on the performance over the external microphone on the Drift Ghost S camera. On first use after inserting it into my helmet the results were excellent. The next test was out on the road which was not so good with a lot of wind interference. The way to get the best out of the microphone is to reduce the sensitivity of the microphone in the camera setup to the middle setting No1 with No3 being the highest. You also need to insert the microphone behind the cheek pad inside the helmet. The result makes for a pretty good sound track that you will want to keep on your video. I tested it up to 70mph. The quality of the microphone is excellent. The difficulty is in keeping the microphone out of the wind. Very difficult to do on any motorbike. The end result will depend on how much protection you get from your screen and keeping the microphone out of the wind. I intend to use my setup for filming scenery abroad traveling at no more than 50mph and it performs very well at that speed.

Mic for Drift Ghost XL
The first one didn’t work and I had to send back and get a replacement. 2nd one works, however it has a very long lead which needs to be somehow hidden in your helmet. Perhaps an option with a short lead would be helpful as I guess most use is for helmet cameras.Sound is ok but still experimenting with it and where to position. Current have it on an existing mic stalk at front of helmet and this does pick up a lot of wind noise.

Nice bit of kit
Easily fitted to my LS2 FF906 helmet and Ghost XL Pro intercom. Really neat, small and unobtrusive. Sound quality is great on playback. Definitely worth having.

It works
Works good for recording inside the helmet. Down side. The cable is far to long. The camera is mounted on the side of the helmet and the mic inside. Why have a cable so long. Just seems stupid. They need to make a smaller version.
