Packs a punch for such a small safe
The Vline Compact Keyless Gun Storage Security Locker is a sturdy metal safe equipped with many great features. While the safe is considerably smaller than many handgun safes on the market, the safe offers enough interior space (for both compact and standard sized firearms) that give enough room for additional magazines, etc.In addition to the sturdiness and convenience in size, the Vline Compact comes equipped with a simplex style lock. Personally, I find the simplex style locks the most reliable mechanical lock in providing both speed, security, and reliability. Not only is the mechanical system far more reliable than an electronic safe system, but the code style lock is simple enough to open in the dark for an emergency, yet secure enough to keep others from gaining access to your firearms. One feature I would appreciate in an updated version would is the additional steel backing behind the interior mechanics of the simplex lock much like the newer Vline Brute. (The Brute would be a much more recommended option if you are looking to store more than one firearm.)In the rear corner of the safe are two holes for either mounting the safe to an object such as furniture, a car seat, etc., or for the ability to slot certain cables through the safe for storing devices such as hard drives.Overall, I would strongly recommend this safe to new handgun owners who are looking for a reliable safe. This is great for room placement or safe travelling.

Great Build Easy to Use
Just wanted to take a minute to leave a review on the V-Line gun storage security. I received the box and was excited to try it out. We bought two of them. Right off the bat you can see the build quality was excellent. The knob is responsive and the buttons have good tension. You know everything works right out of the box. The inside of the safe has padding, so your gun is not going to just be rattling around. The real test is the ease of use. We purchased the safes with this type of locking mechanism to avoid the need to change batteries or have a spare key lying around waiting to get lost. I must say that I was impressed. The instructions inside are very clear and setting a new code is simple. The default code even demonstrates how many combination possibilities there are, For a safe that is so simple to use, it has a good number of features that will secure your firearm. My only caution for anyone looking to purchase this for a full size gun with any extended magazine is to go one size larger than the compact version. Everything will fit, but just a little tight. I love the compact size, so I made it work. This compact box is a pleasant surprise. It fits perfectly in all my drawers, so it gives me many options if I choose to mount this safe. This is definitely a great price for the product. Less expensive safes just don't have the conveniences that the V-Line Compact Security box does. I am realy happy with the built quality and the ease of use.

Solid and fast access
This compact V-Line safe is very sturdy and strong. Honestly, I wasn't sure about spending this much. That said, I was looking at an electronic safe made overseas for $30 less. I ultimately remembered how batteries go empty, leak, and in cold weather can be sluggish. I don't want the chance of malfunction in a heated moment, and I really prefer non battery locks like the old school Simplex locks. They are proven and reliable. Well, I pulled the trigger and went with V-Line, and I'm so happy I did! I was considering the Top Draw, but I'm so happy I went with the Compact model as I can easily put a compact or slimline firearm in it with a loaded extra mag. Very simple, and proven reliable. And made in the USA - keep up the great work V-Line. By the way, I called them two times and a wonderful and kind woman answered all my questions and helped me decide on which model. Add a small cable lock to this, and it fits perfectly under the car seat while traveling.

safe, simple, reliable
Needed a vehicle lockbox and I was not at all interested in any of the electronic lock types. I could not commit to a vehicle-specific lockbox in the event I change vehicles. This was perfect size for my intended contents. SIMPLEX mechanical lock is perfect and easy to set to my desired combo. No batteries to change, no electrical glitches, and no unnecessary features. Easily mounted in-vehicle but I had to find a suitable locking cable separately. The lock cables I could find were smaller gauge than I hoped for. I found another brand online that offered a very beefy cable that works with a standard padlock. I use two of V-Line's lockbox models everyday.*I did have the SIMPLEX lock change combos on its own once. I am pretty sure the reset lever was bumped by the contents and "luckily" reset to a combo I was able to get open. I reset back to my combo and rearranged my contents to avoid reoccurring. I also added some of that foam drawer liner to the bottom of the lockbox to stop it from sliding around. It still allows me to easily slide the lockbox out for access.

Great Safe
This a very nice lock box. I purchased it over an electronic safe to not have to deal with changing batteries, keeping a spare key, and having to worry about a safe dying and me not being able to access my firearm. The lock is very nice with positive, firm clicks. It is very easy to reset the combination and there are endless combinations you can create. It is quite small, especially with the locking mechanism protruding down into the case so much. It fits my Springfield XDs only pointing left without hitting the lock, and has room for an extra magazine. It is a very sturdy, good quality safe, and I see no way to break into it. The only drawback I can see other than the protruding lock is that the lever is quite loud when turning it to unlock the safe. There is a pretty loud click when turning the dial, which I was disappointed to discover, but it isn't a deal breaker.

Good security
Lock works great. No key or batteries is a benefit.
