Great value- nice and smooth application but kind of stinky
I started triple gessoing all my canvases prior to painting and this was a great deal! As to be expected with gesso, it stinks. But no worse than any other brand so no biggie.

It covers like a dream.
Love this stuff. I got it a good while ago (over a year) so maybe they've changed the formula in some way but mine isn't sheer at all. It applies opaque in one to two coats depending on what you're covering. Plus for 13 bucks? You get a lot! I've been using it regularly and it's still half full. It's still cheaper and easier than using a whole bunch of regular white paint as primer.

Great for journaling and card-making!
This did not disappoint. I kept my fingers crossed that the container wouldn't break open in shipping and, to my relief, it arrived safely. The bottle was brand-new. The seal was tight, and the cap was on tight. As far as I can tell, this is essentially white acrylic paint. There are no fumes like you would have with actual gesso. It worked perfectly for my paper crafting project, where I laid down a quick thin layer as a qentle wash over a fully mod podged surface. It worked wonderfully! I was even able to paint nicely over it with some simple acrylic gouache. I'm eager to experiment further with this acrylic gesso to make homemade modeling paste. Great product. Totally worth it.

Gesso
Nice product for price. I find it takes at least two coats for desired effect.

My Go-To Gesso
This gesso beats the more expensive brands easily. I actually prefer this gesso to Liquitex's or Golden's, both of which are excellent quality, of course. But this gesso is thick, bright white, creamy, and fabulously opaque. I order it exclusively and use it on paper, hard board, canvases, and anything and everything that requires gessoing. If you try this even once instead of the premium brands, I think you'll be wonderfully surprised!

It’s Gesso?
I don’t have a crap ton of experience with gesso, but it works like any gesso I’ve used at school. It’s thick so I like to put it on a slightly wet canvas with a wet brush and it stays thick enough to fill in a lot of unwanted texture on my canvas, but still has a good amount of tooth you want when priming a surface. I liked the price and I like the product so it’s a winner for me.

Better than liquitex!
Professional artist. Impressed with coverage, consistency and vibrant white color.I did a sideby-side comparison on a 24" x 36" hardboard panel, with another gesso I have used over the years, and it was much better!

Why pay more?!!!
I have learned to make my own canvas frames, and mount my own canvas. I tried this as a cheaper solution to costlier Gesso and found it to work as well, or even better than the costlier products!Canvases come in different textures; lighter to heavier stock. I have used this on all three, and found that in one coat on medium and lighter canvases, it does the job. On the heaviest of canvases, go one direction and allow to dry, then the other direction. The paint glides across the heavy canvases, the same as the lighter canvases, when applied like this. No sanding required, on either canvases. Some of the cheaper products require the canvas to be sanded with 400-600 grit, to take down heavy lines from the primer. I have never had to run sandpaper on this canvas primer. Saves time and money, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the cost go up in the future, since it is either on par, or better than some of the more costlier brands.
