Need a bit of getting used to with the action (opening fully releases the cutter) but cut down some Sycamore saplings that had take. Residence in the wrong place for house. Cut the trunk with ease and more importantly without a struggle, adjusting the handle length is easy and well thought out. Bought on Prine day price so a bargain. Extends well and feel substantial. Quite heavy but a job to do the anvil cutting action works a treat: good value.

I recently purchased the Spear & Jackson 8290RS Razorsharp Advance Heavy Duty Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Lopper, and overall, I'm quite pleased with its performance.The telescopic feature is a standout, allowing me to reach high branches with ease. The build quality is robust, and the ratcheting mechanism adds extra power for cutting through thicker branches. The razor-sharp blade ensures a clean cut, promoting healthier growth for the plants.The handle extension mechanism is smooth, and the lopper feels well-balanced in hand. The grip is comfortable, and the overall design minimizes hand fatigue during extended use. The sturdy build instills confidence in tackling heavy-duty pruning tasks.However, there is a slight room for improvement in terms of the ratchet mechanism. While it generally works well, there were instances where it felt a bit stiff and required more effort than expected. Additionally, the locking mechanism for the telescopic handle could be more secure; I noticed occasional slippage during use.Despite these minor concerns, the Spear & Jackson 8290RS Razorsharp Advance lopper delivers solid performance and represents good value for the price. It has made pruning tasks in my garden more manageable and efficient. With a few tweaks to enhance the ratcheting mechanism and handle locking system, this lopper could easily earn a full 5-star rating. Overall, a reliable tool for heavy-duty pruning needs.

The loppers are good, just a couple of times I opened up to far whilst cutting and the jaws open up full again but soon got used to it. Cut through some quiet thick branches with ease. The loppers feel heavy when fully extended but that is because they are solid at the working end. A good tool to have.

Excellent value does the job perfectly ease of cutting. Cutting ability excellent handle length very good. Extending capability great does the job very well.

They do the job of cutting up/lopping the bigger branches well.Bought to replace some old Jardin de France telescopic loppers which are past their best.Handle length when fully extended is good and I don't like the twist bits at the bottom of the handle to lock/unlock for extending/retraction so they'll stay at full length for now.

Really powerful really well made. Cut easily through a branch my fiskars blade cutters snapped in half trying to cut it. Really impressed

I bought these loppers to help with pruning fruit trees. They have a sharp cutting blade that cuts down on to a serrated anvil, that has a central groove, via a geared mechanism with a ratchet & pawl. The handles are extendable with a twist/lock. Having used them for a day, I have a couple of reservations - open the handles too far & the cutting jaws spring open, but this is just a matter of becoming familiar with them. Also, I tried cutting the max diameter with extended handles & they did begin to bend slightly, so whilst this facility is good for extra reach, it's maybe unwise to use it for leverage? One last thing - they came with nothing mentioned about maintenance/cleaning. Whilst no adjustment is needed or possibly, occasional sharpening/oiling would I think be advisable. Some might find them a bit heavy, but I didn't. For the price, I think they're a decent bit of kit, but need using with care to avoid damage.
