More than enough to get two fingers of a heavy duty leather welding glove in. **Q: I'm new to tig welding, will this help me slide my hand without gripping the surface with my glove? or is it really only to avoid the heat?** A: This will definitely help you slide your hand across the metal without grabbing. I use mine for all types of welding not just tig to get a nice smooth glide. I would get the reg size tho unless you have really big hands as this one is quite large. **Q: Can you wear it while using a cutting torch?** A: You could also wear it while cutting if you need a rest or guide finger. **Q: Will this also work for MIG welding?** A: Yes, works well for any kind of welding.
