It’s surprisingly tough and cuts through nettles. Struggles a bit with dence grass.

What use is a battery powered strimmer that costs double the price to buy the battery and charger for????

the same battery fits all the tools that Einhell make so if you already have a battery then no need to by another .they recharge very quickly if you have more than one you wont use the charge up before the other has charged

is there an alternative harder wearing blade as the ones supplied do not cover 6 inches without snapping and needing changed?

Yes, these type of blades do need getting used to - especially if you have been using a 'wire' strimmer. They are more fragile and break quite easily.I have not had mine for long, but I find that setting the 'plant guard' carefully, near to the end of the blade, helps to preserve the life.Ultimately, I think that this strimmer will 'eat' quite a few blades though!
