I thought the price was steep! However, I bought mine a few years back, to replace original shop bought items. They had started to "fall apart" and Teflon surface had scratched easily. These replacement egg poach cups, have lasted much, much longer and still look as new **Q: Could I use this in an ordinary saucepan instead of dropping the egg itself into the water?** A: I don't think it would be stable in the water and would spill the egg. If left resting on the bottom of the saucepan, but still with some water, I think it would create a hot spot and damage the item. **Q: Are these Aluminium or Steel or some other metal please?** A: I think it's aluminium. It's metal, grey, light and not magnetic. **Q: Hi there can i put this in pot with water thank you** A: Yeah you can... Fot perfectly, nice quality but the non stick surface just isn't as good. Even with a smear of oil or alike they still refuse to release the egg without a struggle.
