Get ready to meet The Maine again like it's the first time. You already know them as the band who blazed out of Phoenix, Arizona three years ago. On the heels of their major label debut comes the band's third full-length studio album, written, produced and funded entirely on their own.

Great Artists, Great Album
There is nothing I dont like about this album if I'm honest. It's a big change from their past albums (i.e. Cant Stop, Wont Stop etc) which perhaps some won't like. It is all about personal preferance. If you liked their old stuff that is not to say you will not like this album though because I like all The Main's music.I listen to this album (and Cant Stop, Wont Stop) almost everyday on my iPod. This music just never gets old for me because I love it so much. Great tunes on here, "My Heroin," "Some Days," and "This Is The End," in particular for me personally. Those are my favourites on this album but again there is nothing that I don't like here. I would urge you to buy this album and their previous as they are all so good.

Love it!
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure what a lot of their fans will think of it but personally I can't fault it! It's an amazing album with a much more grown up feel to it. There's a few different vibes kicking around the cd in different songs but it still somehow seems to work overall with a rock feeling keeping it altogether. As much as I loved this CD as much and perhaps in some ways more than previous albums I wouldn't say it was a given that anyone who did will but at the same time I would definitely recommend it to others who have more of a rock based music taste who haven't liked previous albums.Massive well done to the guys for producing such an amazing album all on their own!

Probably the greatest alternative rock album ever?!
Released under their own label (Action Theory), Pioneer spells a truly grown-up album from The Maine, who have now been around for more than 5 years. It is more of a rock album than it is pop - The Maine's earlier albums have been pop really (eg. Can't Stop Won't Stop ). I believe that this is the band's true calling, and shows just how much the group has matured in every way. It really strikes a chord emotionally, and no longer is about getting girls, but now it seems a lot more serious, about regrets (in I'm Sorry) and the consequences of foolish actions (in Misery). The anthem-like Don't Give Up On "Us" deserves a particular mention, it's the most upbeat song on the album, whilst When I'm At Home (my favourite song) is the best guitar I've heard from guitarists Jared Monaco and Kennedy Brock. This album is the best thing I've heard for a long while and if you're not sure whether you want to buy it, just do it because you won't regret it. Oh and finally, there is a long pause in the last song (Waiting For My Sun To Shine) if you're wondering why it's so long, and it restarts at 8.27, which is in my opinion the greatest conclusion to a masterpiece of a rock album. The vocals from John O'Callaghan are full of emotion and the lyrics are beautiful. Yes, the cover makes no sense, but who cares when it sounds this good?!
