Highly recommend this product!
I bought the Lava Lunch Patented Heated Lunch Box for my husband, and it has been an absolute game-changer! He’s able to enjoy a warm meal hours after leaving the house, which he loves. The insulated bag and microwaveable heat packs work so well together, keeping his food at the perfect temperature. The lunch box is durable, easy to clean, and spacious enough for a hearty meal. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to avoid the hassle of finding a microwave or enjoys a hot lunch on the go.

Cheaply Made
Zipper broke immediately. This product used to be good before Covid. It’s cheap and falling apart. Especially difficult to use for children trying to bring hot lunches to school. Very sad they changed the quality over the years. Especially considering it’s not cheap.

Works
The first morning we used it the little handle/pull tag thing on the zipper broke off on both bottom zippers as we went to close it. Needed to use it so we jimmy rigged them with paper clips to get it to close. We had unpacked it to fix the zipper and trying to be helpful my son repacked the top bit first with all the cold stuff and it was awkward to get the bottom to close because the top was too heavy and so we had to unpack it again to get it closed. I didn’t heat the lava packs enough that morning as the warning was to be mindful of them swelling and as it was our first time using I was nervous so the food didn’t stay warm. We’ve developed a much better less “race against the clock” system since and have managed to keep food warm for 5 hours. I like the two separate compartments so you can have warm food and a cold drink or fruit. I’d definitely recommend you pack the bottom part first and don’t try to get it all together for the first time when your running late to avoid keystone cop chaos in the kitchen with family members. My son thinks the paper clip zippers are funny so at least I didn’t have to return it🤷🏻♀️

The best lunch bag for BOTH hot & cold foods
I recently got the Lava Lunch, and it's been a game-changer for my meals! The best part? No plugs needed—just heat the Lava Rocks in the microwave, and they keep my food warm for hours. The dual compartments are awesome for packing both hot and cold items, and with its roomy 3-liter capacity, I can bring all my favorite snacks and meals. It's super easy to clean and made from safe materials, so I don't worry about anything harmful. The instructions are simple, and using the rocks is a breeze. If you're looking for a convenient way to enjoy hot and cold meals on the go, Lava Lunch is definitely worth it!

Rocks rock - box not
Edit May 2025: The heat packs are still going strong after two school years of daily use and make the purchase worth it. The terrible bag the come with was repurposed for keeping fishing bait cold ;-).We're coming from a Wildkin lunch bag where we are constantly going through soft plastic hot packs because they fatigue and burst. Enter the Lava Lunch bag...The hard plastic "rocks" are phenomenal. I wish these were available to purchase on their own - the company would make a killing on them. After following the directions exactly microwaving them individually according to the wattage/time specified and molded into the plastic itself (love this), they stayed and kept food warm for 5 hours in warm climate despite a bag challenge (more later). I can't comment on cold climate performance yet but I can say with certainty that they will outperform the soft plastic packs that I have been using thus far. They also have these sections on the side that do not heat up so you can handle them quickly right out of the microwave. The bag is just terrible. Compared to Wildkin, the material feels flimsy and the walls are really thin. If you layer the hot packs as specified with one below the food container and one above, you can feel the heat strongly through the bottom of the bag and, much more importantly, it transfers into the top compartment making the juice box and snacks warm. The zippers are low quality and small. They get caught up pretty hard around the corners and bends. Enough so that even adults have a bit of trouble. I'm sure my 11 yo can deal with it but he's going to be rough on those jams and I don't see the zippers lasting long. Lastly, the handle position... I don't know what they were thinking. Why they couldn't do a double handle to even the load or move the attachment points to the sides is beyond comprehension. As it is now, the bottom of the bag pitches toward the carrier's leg when holding it making contact with every stride. The only positive is it's roomy.1 star for the bag - 5 stars for the "rocks" hot packs. I'm going to keep this just because of the packs.

A great lunch box
I purchased the first one of these a couple years ago when my grand daughter was in kindergarten. The school did not provide hot lunches for them and using this type of lunch box allowed me to send her to school with a warm lunch. There were times that at 4:00 pm when I was unpacking her lunch bag that the food was still warm. As an adult you could also use this to take a warm lunch where ever you may go

Keeps food warm and very good quality
This lunch allows you to send your kid to a school with leftovers for lunch. My son said his spaghetti was still warm and tasty. The bag is a bit big and you have to work a little to make it fit in a backpack. But I love the fact the bag has a separate section for Cold foods. I wish there was a way to purchase additional lava packs. Overall this lunch bag is worth the price and good quality. They should make it in a smaller size.
