For those important letters/writings!
This is my third Lamy, and I'm delighted with it. I have a straightforward Safari fountain pen for everyday use, which is cheap, smooth, quick and flexible (and saves me resorting to ball-points), and a narrow-nib italic pen for short notes that are more important. However, I wanted a real calligraphy pen again, and this really fits the bill for letters (yes, even in this day of e-mails I still like to write proper letters!) and important writings. It's much smoother than the last calligraphy pen I had, and the refills are quick and reasonable. I'm a definite Lamy fan, having been converted by these three great pens, all for a reasonable price. It's 'horses for courses' - I don't think we should expect one pen to suit all situations, but if I only wanted one basic pen then I'd stick with the Safari (but what a pity to miss out on lovely calligraphy writing that certainly gets you noticed).

Excellent pen
I tried this pen in a shop ages ago, and I remembered that it had excellent ink flow. I wanted to practise calligraphy, and after a cheaper set failed on me, I decided to go with this one. The grip is comfortable, the ink flow is perfect, you don't even need to wait after you place in the cartridge, however, I am not too happy with the writing itself. The nib seems to produce one width all along, which may not be a problem for others, but I was a bit disappointed. The cheap set was beautiful in this sense, but troubles with the ink flow just ruins the whole experience. Altogether I would recommended to anyone. (I'm talking about the m a n u s c r i p t set with interchangeable nibs. The look of the writing is amazing, but the quality is terrible. I might as well dip it in a bottle of ink).

The best thing I've bought in ages
These pens write so smoothly, albeit this is my first decent fountain pen. I never want to go back to ballpoint.

Paint
I was not very impressed with this product as the paint get tubing off.

terrific
I don't understand the negative review; it's a calligraphy pen, not a standard writing pen so it is not intended for fast writing. the standard Lamy safari pens are great for writing. This does what it supposed to do at a great price, as is usual with the cheap Lamy pen range.

a waste of money, skips and does write fluidly
the pen is a joke, and even though it has all these good review it seems to not write any good. it skips and is impossible to write with it fast - so no exam use or even simple lecture use. buy either a finer nib or move onto another option in this company or maybe parker or a waterman
