Cooks in rice cooker in under 30 min
I really don't understand the low reviews. It seems people don't have much experience making their own boba at home. All boba (that's not precooked) takes time to cook. It's a slight learning curve. If cooked properly, these boba are quite large/standard boba shop size. After some experimenting, I found that they cook to very soft in a rice cooker steam setting after 30 minutes. The only downside is that they are delicate and break easy before cooking, meaning there will be some powder at the bottom. To avoid the jelly mess other reviewers noted, you need to add plenty of water (I use atleast 2 cups watee per 1/4 cup boba) and filter away any fine boba powder. These boba taste great: the maple flavor and sweetness is very mild.

Don't buy
These are garbage. More than half are completely smashed to powder. What's left takes too long to cook, and they are so small, and honestly aren't even that good. Disappointing to say the least.

I can't recommend this for bubble tea
It's not eligible for return, so make sure you have other uses for this product besides bubble tea. It's SO MUCH tapioca for the price, but it's 30 minutes to boil, and 20 minutes to stew( they didn't add that last part and now I'm stuck with 6lbs. of it). The product cooks evenly but does not have very large pearls. After I finished cooking it, I was left with a pan of sticky syrupy "maple sauce" that you rinse out of the pearls before using, and it took quite a while to clean out of the pan and off of the straining spoon. It's too much hassle and time if you want to make just a few servings of bubble tea. For soup, or perhaps for pudding this might be a terrific product for the price. I never had a problem with the pricey quick pearls; they're just more expensive. I'm completely out and will have to wait a couple weeks for more, but I am not interested in going through this again; I wanted to be sure to give an honest review and now I'm done with it.

Good product
Some were crumbled to dust but the majority were great for my milk tea boba drink. Since J don't drink it often I enjoyed the process of making whenever I felt like drinking milk tea

Great flavor and texture
I'm surprised by another reviewer's 3 star review. I think these are great! I've purchased a variety of boba in local Asian stores and they all take a while to cook, unless you purchase a variety that is specifically designated as quick cooking (the ones I've tried have been sour and the texture is off). The pearls are of normal size. They fill the diameter of a boba straw, just as they should. They are very tightly vacuum packed, which prevents the pearls from turning into a powdery mess. Yes, when you cook boba, it will leave a bit of a mess in the pan from the tapioca starch. I haven't found that it's unusually difficult to wash from the pot or strainer. These pearls have a better flavor than the others I've tried. I like the slightly sweet, maple-y flavor. I put the boba in a brown sugar syrup for storage and leave them out at room temperature. It's probably best to use them within 24 hours of cooking.

Half of the pearls became powder
Before my first time of purchasing of this product, I already read some of reviews mentioned the pearls in the bag becoming powdery, however, I still went ahead to purchase it because it’s product of Taiwan. When the package arrived, I found it’s pretty good just a small portion of pearls were crushed. So, I purchased this product the second time and this time was not so lucky, more than half of the bag of pearls were crushed and became powdery due to lack of proper vacuumed seal. Very disappointed, probably won’t ever buy this brand again.

Great and awesome for starters!
These boba balls were better than I had imagined! I never prepared them before and I was worried by the look of them when I initially opened, but with a quick look in how to prepare them properly, all my worries went away. They came out exactly how I buy them in other tea shops and I’m super proud that I can use these instead. Just a tip for those who were just like me, a little goes a long way! I thought it wouldn’t be enough when I added about 2 tablespoons, but after preparing, it was a lot more than I thought so please be cautious! 1 tablespoon should be good between 1-2 people depending how much boba you like.

Do not buy
It arrived all crumbled. Only 1/3 is edible, rest is all powder. I don’t recommend this at all and you can’t return or get a refund either. I regret not reading the reviews!
