Good for around the house, a bit bulky for backpacking, etc.
Ok, so it wasn't readily apparent that the business end of this is fashioned in the style of an AK47. If you like bravado, then there's that. A bit tacky, but I'm fairly toned down and more of a function-dictates-form than 'let's make a statement!' person. That's on me, but I digress. On with the review. The tank size cuts both ways - it allows for a generous amount of fuel to be carried (not included, but readily available). The press down ignition button (I hesitate to call it a switch...to me switches are able to be left alone and then continue the state that the item was in...engaged versus not engaged) remains engaged only while being pressed. Probably more benefit than blessing when talking about torch (the button acting as a fail-safe) that could possibly be modified (rubber band) to give it a static state mode.Other than that, it's a butane torch. Typically, the spark coil will deteriorate with time, but in early usage it doesn't seem to deteriorate any more quickly than others I've purchased from REI (where a standard lighter is placed in an adapter).Price point seems to be about right. Biggest caveat is the styling.

Trigger, lock, and gas level can be operated with one hand. Check out the vid and pics below
Such a well thought out design. It’s well built, not too heavy and doesn’t feel like a cheap novelty lighter. Let’s be honest, most cool novelty lighters made to look like something, prioritize looks over functionality. Well this firearm facade, actually adds to how the lighter functions instead of taking away. It acts as stand so hot metal doesn’t contact the surface. two nubs on the base keep it upright, preventing rollaways. The gap at the top (see photos) prevents heat transfer and the barrels waffle design adds surface area, allowing heat to dissipate before it can transfer. I tested this out like no lighter before. I filled the tank and burned it dry again. I forgot to time it, but i wanted to see how hot it would get around where you have to hold it, of course the tip gets hot but down by the switch nearest the first contact was just barely getting warm, and that’s it! I wouldn’t normally try such a thing because any lighter I have ever operated too long melted its guts and would break. Not this one, no more “wait a minute you gotta let it cool” hopefully this helps you make an informed decision on your purchase.
