Simple Modern Sewing: 8 Basic Patterns to Create 25 Favorite Garments

My favourite Japanese pattern book full of beautifully simple clothes. I put off buying this as amazon didn’t offer a preview and reviews weren’t great but in fact I think it has more variation of styles than most of these Japanese books. The best bit though is the styling ideas as each piece of clothing is shown to its full potential using different fabrics, on different models, young and old, and styled in different ways. It really is a basic capsule wardrobe. Similar to Lotta Jansdotter book. Patterns included at back on trace off sheets for all garments and illustrated instructions easy to follow.

Great patterns, easy to follow step by step instructions. Loysnof fashion in how to wear and how to accessories garments, which is nice.Multi pattern sheets are self explanatory and clear to follow.Maybe not for the absolute beginner, but as a semi confident novice I can see no issues.Great price and condition and immediate despatch and delivery. I can't wait to get started!

The clothes are very simple and nice looking, but I am a beginner and the way that all the patterns overlap is very, very confusing, It takes me hours to figure out which lines belong to which pieces. It would be better if every pattern had its own space.. I am still wondering if some are not actually wrong... mmmm...

I am delighted with this book, with the proviso, that it should be realised that "small - medium - large" in this book, relate to petite Japanese sizing. However, the patterns are so carefully put together, that anyone will be able to size them up to fit. Within this book are so many really useful patterns, each with several style ways - I can see myself using them for years to come, ringing the changes. I am glad to have this book to hand, with the proviso, as mentioned above.

Really interesting range of designs, combining really simple shapes and forms to make adaptable, interesting clothing items that you'll never find in a high street shop. Construction methods are kept simple and unfussy and the end result is architectural, clean lines that can be adapted to personal tastes.

fabulous patterns that can be adapted lots of different ways and for different sizes. Can't wait to get my sewing machine out. Good clear instructions

This book has different variations on the same type and it amazing if you want to learn how to make different things with one pattern.Otherwise it holds basic patterns which are nice and easy to make.
