Espresso Mushroom Company Kitchen Garden Pink Mushroom Kit

I always buy my Dad some kind of growing kit for Christmas. This was the first time with one of these mushroom kits. We followed the instructions but seem to have had bad luck from the start with it. First of all when my Dad put the pack back in the box after soaking, lots of water leaked out and completely destroyed the bottom of the box. We placed the box in the kitchen, on the side but it seems like this maybe wasn't the best place for it. We had a few mushrooms start to grow in the corners of the pack but these quickly went pale and then the growing stopped altogether. We ended up taking the package out of the box and placing it on a towel on the radiator. This helped and we got another round of mushrooms growing all over. It looked very promising, lots of lovely bright prink growing bits. We didn't end up with anything as large as those in other Amazon customer photos, and the mushrooms soon went pale sadly. I've given four stars, as with anything like this it can be down to the conditions not really the product itself which is a fun idea. We loved coming down each day and checking on the growth and seeing whether anything new had appeared. I can see this being really fun for children as the process is very quick, with quick results. I'm a little disappointed it didn't quite work out as well for us.

This was bought as a gift but I decided to keep it, as it seemed fascinating. The product arrived on time and well packaged.... no complaints there. I followed the instructions to the letter and understood that in doing so, I would be rewarded with mushrooms within a couple of weeks.... have to say I am still misting twice daily and still waiting for the mushrooms to arrive three weeks later. I live in hope...lol. BUT don't let me put you off, all plants are unpredictable and heavily dependant on their environment for their rate of growth. The fact that the mushroom crop hasn't arrived precisely two weeks to the day from setting the kit up, could be more to do with trying to grow them in winter than anything. This is a fascinating product and if the mushrooms eventually arrive (and I have no reason to believe they won't, albeit eventually) it will be a bonus.

I've had so much fun with the other products that Espresso Mushroom Company have been selling over the last year that I couldn't resist giving these pink mushrooms a go now too! I've attached a photo of the 1st harvest (there were two more to follow!) which we got from the pearl oyster mushroom kit when we grew that and now I'm excited to see the results of growing these pinks! It's not just that the growing procedure is such an addictive process to be watching, but when you get your bounty at the end they really bring something deliciously different to any mushroom dish you might have tried using ordinary mushrooms. I know I have already converted my mum to this delightful concept by sharing a meal with her, and now she is ordering them as Christmas presents for her work colleague! I can highly recommend you give this gourmet grow-kit a go!

The instructions indicated that in two weeks there would be mushrooms to harvest after which there would be at least one more crop. After about eight days there was a nice crop and I continued to spray with water twice a day unfortunately the next day the crop dried out and became unusable. I thought that this was a bit early but hey ho lets have another crop and harvest them earlier but the following crop failed to appear so never had the opportunity to sample the goods. Disappointed!!!

Bought these and the Oyster variety as a gift. Seem to have been well received. The mushrooms are certainly sprouting!

Given as a present, recipient was delighted. Still waiting for them to grow.
