Also Features A 23 X23 Super Ape Poster. Few artists enjoy a legacy that involves a re-engineering of the very genre in which they work. Lee Scratch Perry is such an artist. As a pioneer of dub reggae Perry viewed the mixing console as musical instrument in its own right. The influence of his revolutionary approach has been felt world-wide and into genres far beyond reggae. His 1976 effort, Super Ape, is considered a masterpiece of this or any genre. Working with The Upstetters at his Black Ark studio Perry created a sound with such a lasting appeal that The Rough Guide includes Super Ape as one of their 100 Essential Reggae releases. Tracks : SIDE ONE: Zion's Blood, Croaking Lizard, Black Vest , Underground, Curly Dub. SIDE TWO: Dread In Lion, Three In One, Patience, Dub Along, Super Ape

Dub Along
This is definately worth your hard earned money. It will brighten anybodies day and the perfect company on a lovely Spring day.The bass and rhythm is marvellous, not knowing too much about Perry, other than the Marley connection, the Beastie Boys collaboration and the fact that he looks like he loves live - this was a very pleasant suprise. The 180gm Vinyl is nicely pressed with a great deep bass through the bowels sound.......Most of the tunes are amazing - Zion, Lion and especially the masterpiece Dub Along. They should prescribe that on the NHS.So hpefully the first of a new journey into Dub for me.

I don't know how this album could really be topped? Except with more Lee Perry. Or an original pressing. I bought this on CD, but instantly kicked myself for not buying it on vinyl. 180gm all the way.

In my Top 10 reggae albums
This Lee Perry dub album is in my top 10 reggae albums of all time. There is some great source material here. Max Romeo's War Ina Babylon is in it's dub version called Black Vest is a highlight. Perry's dubs retains the essence of the original songs while adding some nice dub effects and remixing. Croaking Lizard features some classic Prince Jazabo toasting and is another highlight. Perry's own Curly Locks appears as Curly Dub. While I am a fan of instrumental dub, King Tubby's Meets Rockers Uptown is primarily instrumental and is a favourite reggae album of mine, I do prefer dubs with at least some vocals from the original song and this is what Perry does here with his dubs. If you are a reggae fan, you need this album. The pressing is very good, not the best reggae pressing I have, but the bass sounds deep.

Ubu Roo
One of the greatest reggae albums ever by the mad professor Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. It’s just perfect, makes you feel like you’ve just smoked a fattie. Definitely my favourite reggae album of all time.
