Snooper My-SPEED XL 4.3" Dash Cam, Speed Limits and Camera Alerts Detector, Extensive Database

It is an old design and the touch screen is a little slow, and the unit as a whole is a little large. The cradle It sits in and the holder are also quite large and it takes up a lot of front screen room. This does depend on your car design.. With a few design changes this would be an excellent item. If you look at this item as a driving assist that helps you keep within the speed limits and not a warning device that allows you to speed in between speed cameras/traps. If you use it for what it is intended for then it is a first class device. It is a safety device to warn you to keep within and not go over the speed limit. The price is excellent as most competitors are twice the cost and charge you a yearly subscription. Use it for what it is designed for and you will not be disappointed, I would recommend this for the price.

I’ve been reviewing the various speed camera detectors currently on the market and short listed the Snooper My-Speed XL and the Snooper 4Zero Elite BT. After much deliberation I decided to go for the Snooper My-Speed XL. Price was a factor although the Snooper 4Zero Elite BT looks to be a more technical device and offers more configurable functionality. However, I’m very pleased with the Snooper My-Speed XL, the software download took no time at all and was very easy to setup. The unit works as designed, the audible bleep when warning you of the different road speeds is a good feature. The speed camera detection worked perfectly, giving a voice warning as well audible bleeps the nearer you got to the camera position.

Good quality mount and the free updates work well (if you register) its not 100% and does pick up some historic sites but better this than points. It did pick up a mobile zone for me yesterday potentially saving me had I been over the limit on the A38. as the porcus mobilius van was on a flyover bridge. Audible alarm is loud and continuous to the point of annoying and hard to ignore which is how I need it to be. Overall its a great little device, internal battery good for about 2 hours and car charger supplied.

Unit great, power cable became unreliable after a few days. Garmin Sat-Nav cable made a good replacement, when unit was direct wired into car.

I purchased this item after being nabbed twice in quick succession by mobile speed cameras. The snooper is exactly what I was looking for. It highlights your speed next to the speed limit and beeps when cameras are around. Whether it picks the mobile units, I don’t know yet. In my car, the speedometer is blocked from view by the steering wheel so this gadget helps a lot. One point about the installation. There are no written instructions included which is just odd. I had to find them on the internet. However, early impressions are good. It does exactly what it says it does.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my son. When he opened the box he found it came with a CD user guide and download software disk. As he didnt have a disk drive on his Mac book, he never used it. After I found it on his desk a year later, I toook it form him as my laptop had a CD drive. Plugged it in and got it working then saw the slip of paper in the box that told me " IMPORTANT" the Aura speed camara data base had not been downloaded and instucted me to register the product and follow download instructions. I did this and from that point on got an error message on the device screen: "Incorrect mapp data Please update map data. Tried to do this but didn't work. Phone technical support who were very helpful in taking me through the updating process but at the end of the exercise the error message stayed on. They concluded it needed a new SD card as it had corrupted. Despite that the device had never been used because it was outside the 12 month warranty by 2 months they could not offer any descretionary help with replacing the card. I had to purchase a new SD card at £49.99 plus £7.95 delivery. The sign of a good company is that they support their products not just with technical support but by exceeding customer expectatiion. They would have recognised that they product had not lived up to my expectations but would not offer a no cost solution. The raw cost of an SD card is only a couple of pounds so the the charge for the SD card is the cost of transferring data to it plus to add insult to injury charge £7.95 for postage and packing. Sadly Snooper has failed on the customer support element and I would not recommend either the company or product to any of my friends regardless of its performance purely on this aspect of of the transaction. I have ordered but not yet received the replacment SD card and as yet do not know how the device will perform. It's a great shame as it has totally destroyed any enjoyment I got from purchasing this for my son,s Christmas present. I feel well and trully stuffed!

Bought in response for my partner, after she got a few speeding tickets. Her new car has built in satnav, but no speed limit information, so we didn't want another satnav in the car. This is a brilliant solution to factory fitted satnavs which don't advise you on speed limits. Great investment, compared to fines and loosing your license! Only one problem with a software fault, but cannot fault the manufacturer; very helpful over the phone, and sent a new pre-programmed memory card out to us.

Good points keep in the geen and out the red your be ok . can adjust over speed it will bleep if you go over speed .good news fixed speed camera you will get warning and the continued bleeps untill you past camera only slight problem the audio voice a bit distort but thats not a problem ,the continuous bleeps at a fix camera is the best thing and the ajustable overspeed .very happy with item
