Works really well and opens/closes with no problem at specified time. Great labour saving device and I don't now have to go down to the coop in the rain!Originally had a light plywood door but it was too heavy so replaced it with a sheet of Perspex. The string on the unit is a bit flimsy but a spare string was supplied and no problems so far. It is a battery unit so would recommend that you use good batteries especially if you rely on the timer while you are away.No negatives to report and can recommend

This was delivered promptly just before I went on holiday - made my life/hens much easier to manage - timer easy to set as needs adjusting to meet changing sunrise/sunset - days away now less problematic to organise

Brilliant service. Initially the item was sent with a frayed string which promptly broke trying to lift the 800g door on the first day. I contacted the seller who promptly sent a replacement and a spare so I was able to use it 2 days later. It is great, I no longer have to be there to open or shut the door for the chickens or listen to their moanings when I am late opening their hatch. It has been 4 months and it still works well. I did install it under shelter just in case water gets into the circuits..... This is the update after nearly a year. I have changed and mended the string about 6 times so far, including the 2 new ones that were sent out to me shortly after purchase. The whole point of having an automatic door opener was for security. I think the string issue really lets down the product. The string is only slightly thicker than an ordinary thread that we use for clothes. Even under shelter with a door that weighs 500g (well below the 700g that it can supposedly weight bear), the strings will fray and break multiple times. 2 days ago, I went out in the morning to see the new 2 month old string broken and the door on the floor so the coop had been open all night. Fortunately the main door from the sheltered run to the outside had been locked as I was working the day before. (Foxes had killed about 10 chickens a mile away only last week, also with similar door openers but that is another issue). I restrung the door with the string that was still intact. This morning, the string broke, with 3 of the chickens yelling their heads off as they were locked in. Having had enough, I have bought nylon string and modified the line.My neighbour bought 2 openers with another company and he has NEVER had to restring them at all after 3 years.I think that all your customers would prefer that you charge us more and actually use a string that lasts so that our chickens are safe from predators or are not in constant danger of being guillotined by the doors or indeed for us to spend hours fumbling with the opener trying to restring the thing. So for that complete unreliability, I am taking away a few stars.

I bought this so I could go away and not rely on friends to shut them in and let them out. I had to make a vertical sliding door on my chick house in order for it to work and had to fiddle a bit to get the door the right weight but managed to get it sorted.I didn't find a spare string in the box and the batteries were not Duracell as seen in the video. Initially there were a few nights when the device didn't close the door so it might be possible that if the door isn't hanging properly this might be a problem but it all seems to be working well now and I haven't had this problem for a few weeks.Overall I am very pleased and it's so nice not having to go out in dreadful weather!

Arrived 2 days earlier than anticipated, in perfect condition to rural location in Spain!. Simple to programme and attach to chicken coop, works a treat. This is the third one I've bought, the other two are still going strong in the UK. I would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in bed especially in the summer when the little darlings like to be up at 5am, but be safe in the knowledge that the girls are happily scratching about in their run or that the little cluckers are safely closed in the coop if you are stuck in traffic/work/shopping before Mr Fox can get to them. Highly recommended.

Easy to install and set up. Other than having to alter the time every week or so, because it doesn't keep time well, it has been running ok. But 4 months on the electronics have started playing up. Changed batteries just in case, but no good. Screen goes blank. Pull batteries out and back in, reset timings and clock, then stops responding to buttons. Only way to set anything further is to pull batteries out/in. Not reliable.

Update: 29.4.20. Early this morning, after 4 months of use, the string snapped, leaving most of the hens trapped inside the coop until early afternoon. Not happy, nor were the chickens!My old door died so I purchased this as it was next day delivery.Very easy to set up and very handy to have the timer as my old door started shutting some chooks out!Easy to readjust the timer as the evenings/mornings get lighter. A total must for chicken keeping!

handy gadget for allowing poultry in and out of the cote meaning obviously you don't need to be up at the crack of dawn to let them out or around at the death to lock them up. This gizmo is invaluable if you work unsocial hours or as in my case have to leave home very early to attend hospital appointments on a regular basis. Another useful feature is the override facility meaning you can open or close the pop - hole door before the set time. the battery life indicator is another useful feature. In summary - simple to fit and operate and invaluable if you are regularly "not around"
