I usually wipe them with a damp cloth and they’re as beautiful now as when I first received them. I don’t think they will do well in a washing machine but that’s just a guess on my part. What I can tell is that they’re absolutely lovely, make the table look great and protect the surface. You’ll enjoy them. **Q: Do these have any type of backing to them like rubber or cork so it doesn't soak thru the material from ur glass?** A: There is something firm inside that I can feel and then there is cloth on the back. We have never had even the most sweaty glasses soak through. Before I started using I tested a couple to see how well they absorb and if they possibly leak through. Sat a glass of ice water an for am hour. The glass was sweating profusely. They absorbed the water well, but also started to leak through. This would not be good for our wood tables. I loved the design and really didn't want to return. Also liked the thickness as glasses could not tip off the edge like most coasters. I then sprayed the backside with a waterproofing spray I use on leather goods.
