Well worth the higher price
Yes there are cheaper ones, but this has all the adapters you need, a clear chart for which adapter to use on which type of outlet (no need to try all different ones), and a sturdy case to store everything in for later.Total novice needed this to convince my landlord there really is a water flow problem here, but I'm glad I bought a good one because it'll be useful for all sorts of plumbing troubleshooting that arises in older buildings. It saved me a big headache to find out for myself that my "low water pressure" was not pressure but flow (indicating a blockage somewhere). By looking up my shower valve on the Moen website, and finding that I have 45psi of pressure at all the water points in my place, I could see that the shower valve should put out 5 gallons per minute with the shower head removed. It was only dispensing 1 gallon per minute at 45psi, and having that data finally got the landlord to take some action.

Reads your water pressure
City water pressure in some parts is constantly fluctuating. So far I have lost 3 water pressure regulators and three water softeners. Safe water pressure is 70 psi. Water surges (water hammers) up to 140 psi can take out your house plumbing, but if it is on your side of the meter, it is your problem, not the city. Home and property owners should have this or something like it. Check your water pressure for safety reasons.

Good value
For the cost of the gauge it was worth it. I was able to dial in the water pressure regulator on my home. I had very low water pressure and the gauge was able to tell me what it was. I then adjusted the regulator to what I wanted. I now can say "Oh yeah, I have one of those in my truck..."

Right on the money!
The Flow Doctor Water Pressure Gauge worked perfectly. Just got the main water shutoff valve and main line coming into the house replaced and a pressure valve installed. The plumber did a great job and out of three plumbers, the price was reasonable for the work done. The pressure coming into the house was over 100 psi which is way too high and can be damaging to the plumbing. The call to plumber started with a weird whining noise that progressively got louder and I traced the source to the main water pipe and valve coming into the house. Consequently, we called the plumber the very next day and had it repaired by the following afternoon. All said and done, the repair in combination with installing the pressure valve resolved the strange ghostly whining in the pipe, and the plumber cut the pressure back to 50 psi. That said, I purchased the Flow Doctor Water Pressure Gauge to check the pressure myself and low and behold, it was exactly 50 psi per the plumber's recommended setting. So now I have validated their work and I am impressed with the accuracy of this little gauge. I did see a few folks state that their Flow Doctor leaked excessively. I had no issues. I do know that it would leak like a sieve if you did not use the supplied rubber washer. As long as you pop that on before you connect it to your mains water or hose line, you should have no leaks. Enough said! I will write a follow up review should the Flow Doctor fail down the road. But consider no news to be good news. I found it to be a handy and accurate little tool and it is a very good idea to ensure that your water pressure is where it should be to protect your plumbing. A small investment for some peace of mind and a lot cheaper than having a major leak somewhere in the house due to excessive water pressure!

Don’t trust this without checking it’s against another gauge
Defective. Used it one time and the readings were false. Caused me some problems. Water pressure was actually about 58 with a known good gauge but showed as high as 108 on this one. Returned and will hope for better luck with the next one. My advice, check this unit vs a known good gauge before trusting this one.
