Excellent piece of equipment!
An excellent piece of equipment. This machine can be a good addition to a resistance program, or for a stand-alone program. If you want to develop the eccentric phase of a movement under high speed. I was surprised with how much load and speed it can produce in the eccentric phase. In other words the harder you pull the more resistance it pulls back. So if you do a squat and really accelerate in the upward action, then get ready for a very strong and fast eccentric or lowering phase at speed and with high resistance! Great for sports movements and those interested in performance sports as well and will almost definitely help those who want to keep fit AND develop strength, functional strength. Can be used to develop strength endurance too if enough reps are done at the right accelerations/effort. Well built, with high quality injection moulded parts. Works the way a flywheel resistance machine is supposed to. Very impressive for the money when compared to other commercially available flywheel machines like the k-box.

absolutely fantastic for a home gym
First of all the price is a bargain and is a extra £50 from JML. I also ordered the extra disk which put the total price up to near the JML price with one disk. So still very good, but the extra disc I think is a bit expensive.Nevertheless, take note, I have given 4 stars but to be honest that is a bit mean. It is more like 4.8, even then it is not really fair because of what this machine can do. It is just tremendous. Your personal strength doesn't matter so much because it adjusts to you automatically and it can give you a much better workout than free weights. (I mean that, I am a very experienced lifter) It takes up very little space and can be stored easily. It takes a bit of practice to get the use right but it's no big deal. Ok, so what are the con's. 1. It must be used on a hard service because otherwise the disc underneath may not turn on a carpet etc, certainly not if you fit the extra disk. So a bit more ground clearance would be good. With more ground clearance it could be designed to add a 3rd or even 4th disk. Then it's in pro use realm. With one disk, it is very easy to turn the dial to tighten the rope but with too, it is a bit more difficult. I think a better way of tightening the rope should be designed. Minor gripe, it not an issue at all with just one disk. Most people will only need one disk. There is no chest exercise on the chart you get, unless you are using the mounting equipment but you can do one arm "Bench Presses" if you put your mind to it. I have and it's great. Just be sure to keep one foot at least on the unit, or it will lift. For what it is meant to do, for what it can achieve for you in potentially a very short space of time without a gym membership or hours at it. I mean it, because of the way it works you only need to do 1 or 2 sets of each exercise. You can train for strength, muscles and endurance. You can do Squats, curls, presses and a bucket load of other exercises. Look I am starting to sound like a salesman for them now, it really is that good and at the current price is huge bargain. Trust me I have used gyms for years and done huge lifts, this is great for me. So if your worried you might be too strong for it, don't be and if you are not very strong or new to exercise, then one disk will be fine and the machine will naturally adjust for your level.

Awesome.
This is a great excercise machine but apparently you need to keep using it to see results, so thats me out then as like most folks it's a good idea at first until it isn't lol

Not as advertised
This product is not as described in the video on TV. I watched a promotional advertisement and placed an order to buy the Space Gym immediately on the strength of what I watched. Crucially, it said that it was easy to change from one exercise to another with a simple adjustment of the control on the handle. In fact, the process is prolonged and awkward. The video also implies that the Space Gym works in the same manner as a flywheel on a rowing machine or similar whereby you pull on the cord, it extends under force, and is then pulled back into the flywheel, taut. It does no such thing. For the flywheel mechanism to work, it first has to be primed by manually extending the cord to the required length for the chosen exercise, and then manually wound onto the flywheel by turning a pad on the top of the Space Gym. Only then will the flywheel function when the handle is pulled; and if it isn't pulled in precisely the right way and then released in precisely the right way, the flywheel won't pull the handle back to the starting position. The instructions state that the flywheel mechanism should be got up to speed with a careful and deliberate pulling and release motion which is not particularly easy and certainly isn't like what was depicted on the advertisement.I felt thoroughly cheated and had no doubt in my mind that I would return the product yet when I followed the instructions to do so and telephoned the given number to get a return number, I was informed that I was obliged to return it at my own expense! Given the size and weight of the Space Gym, I was especially unhappy about this, and more so as the reason for returning it was 'false advertisement' i.e. JML's fault, not mine.I paid £150 which was supposed to be a 25% off sale price. It is clear, however, that the cost to make the product is far lower than this. It is made of bog standard materials that look cheap, especially the flywheel cord which is just a length of nylon rope with a stopper knot tied in the end. There's a reason why JML sell products by mail order only. It uses "Not available in shops!" as a slogan to imply that it's special but I think the real reason is that JML knows that if buyers saw the product in person they wouldn't sell any.

Noisy
The gym was what I expected and easy to learn the exercises and the functionality of the equipment, my one gripe was the noise it made after 5 minutes of use.

Lightweight and compact, yet very effective
Works the muscles very well

Sturdy
Well made, delivered sooner than expected. Takes a bit of getting used to, and even as an amateur I feel the resistance could be stronger. Will buy additional plate in time but am enjoying using it initially. The accompanying instructions with codes that can be scanned to you tube demo are very useful. I do think the price is still too high for what it is, but for me it’s better than expected.
