Product Description The complete fifth season of the real-time drama series. 18 months after Day 4, Jack is living under a new alias, as Frank Flynn, and working on various oilrigs and refineries throughout America. He is currently living with Diane and Derek Huxley, a family near the Mojave Desert, South Eastern California. Meanwhile, an unknown figure orders the assassination of the four people who know Jack is alive--Tony Almeida, Michelle Dessler, Chloe O'Brian and Former President David Palmer--to frame him. He returns to LA to clear his name when a hostage situation erupts. But it is only a diversion by collaboration of conspirators and Russian separatists to obtain 20 canisters of Sentox VX nerve gas. The gas was originally to be used to attack Moscow, but the separatists begin to release it in LA in retaliation after they discover that a US agent has infiltrated their organization. Jack attempts to search for the remaining canisters and expose treachery deep within the White House. .co.uk Review The adventures of Counter Terrorism Unit agent Jack Bauer have rarely been dull. Yet after four series of battling the bad guys in real time, some could rightfully wonder whether 24 had lots its edge, and its ability to surprise. The fifth season should put any such doubts to shame. Set eighteen months after the dramatic finale to Season Four, things get off to a shocking and pulsating beginning. You wont find plot spoilers in this review, yet its as if the writers realised they had some serious carpet-pulling to do to keep the shows audience intrigued once again. Set, as usual, over the course of one single day, theres then a slight lull in the first third, before things spring ferociously into life. Make no mistake: if you can overcome the usual need to suspend elements of your disbelief, this is the best series of 24 since the first, and as it winds near to its equally dramatic conclusions, its simply hard to take your eyes off it. Joining the usual cast too is a procession of familiar names. Peter Weller (Roboocop), Sean Astin (The Lord Of The Rings) and C Thomas Howell (The Hitcher) are among those doing their curriculum vitae no harm, but the acting honours are taken by the wonderful combination of President Logan and his first lady, played by Gregory Itzin and Jean Smart. With a denouement that sets up a sparkling sixth season, this fifth series of 24 is a genuinely significant achievement. Its packed full of surprises, isnt afraid to take a few risks, and as all good thrillers should, it keeps you on the edge of your seat for far longer than is comfortable. A superb show, very much on top form.--Simon Brew

Never in my life have I seen such an exceptionally well executed piece of work like this one
Season Five of 24 exceeds in almost every area over ALL (that's right ALL) other TV shows. Let me put it this way, Season Five of 24 has raised the bar so high that it is no longer fair to compare any other TV show to it. AAA Hollywood action movies hope to reach the exceptional high quality that 24 has set this season. It has a wonderful cast of actors who not only bring the characters to life but actually make you believe that these absolutely horrific circumstance may occur in a single day, which is no easy task!It starts with an almost unprecedented season opener that I have ever had the pleasure to witness. I remember I was eating my dinner when I stuck the first disc in my DVD player and hit the play button. 5 minutes or so into the episode my jaw dropped to the floor with half chewed food still in my mouth (my brother did not appreciate that very much) and I couldn't close my mouth for the next 10 minutes (By that time my bro. had had enough and left the room). After watching that episode, I couldn't help but think to myself that the plot can only go downhill from there because how can you top that? Well the next few episodes completely blew that theory out of the water. There is a constant stream of twists and surprises that are both completely unpredictable and very satisfying. Half way through the season it got so good I seriously wandered if it was illegal for any TV series to be this good. Season Five is absolutely phenomenal! If you haven't seen any of the previous seasons and are wandering whether that would hinder your almost imminent enjoyment of this fine work then you would be glad to hear that the season premier has a small recap at the beginning of the episode that does a very good job at bringing you up to speed and summarises pretty well, the events that led to the certain state of affairs that the characters are already in.Yes, you would understand this season better if you saw the previous season/s first but it will NOT hinder your enjoyment if you didn't.This season got 5 Emmy Awards including Best Drama. Go buy the DVD.MMK

Jack's bad day is certainly entertaining...
Having just finished watching the latest series of 24 I admit I am completely blown away by it! For me, series four was quite a poor show, so I was a little worried when series 5 was released as I wondered whether it would be another series four, or a return to the golden gems that series one and two offered.Fans of 24 can relax - this is entertainment at it's best!Without giving too much away, this latest series gets off to an explosive start, and is definitely shocking. I challange anyone to watch the first hour and not be left staring at the screen thinking.... "oh my god!"Jack's certainly got his hands full with presedential conspiracies, and difficult relationships with his daughter, Kim Bauer (who thankfully keeps her appearence brief) and Audrey Raines.Beware, this season of 24 is the most brutal yet, and Jack is certainly a man on the edge, who has nothing left to loose and will go to ultimate lengths to get the information he wants. This series is the best since the first one aired, and be preapred to get the hankies at the ready as the writers brutality claims record body counts amongst old favaroites.Kiefer's acting is as fine as ever, and he delivers another cracking performance as the ex CTU agent who keeps having the mother of bad days. This series of 24 is excellent for supporting cast as well. Look for Sean Astin, and an excellent turn from Robocop's Peter Weller (although the temptaion to mutter you're coming with me... dead or alive is rife) but 24 excells itself after a poor previous season and gives us a white knuckle ride that will leave you twitching in your seat, bleary eyed and spending too many hours in front of the telly. So buckle up, and watch the best series yet of 24. Your only question after watching this should be... how can series 6 get any better?

Probably the best 24 season
Out of all the 24 seasons, I think this is my favourite.Everything about season 5 shows 24 at its very best. The action is relentless, the pace breathtaking and the plots and subplots are all truly fascinating, in how they all weave together perfectly. Be prepared for some truly heart-rending moments also, not the mention the surprise ending.I think the acting above all is what distinguishes this season for me, with brilliant performances from so many of the cast members, Kiefer Sutherland of course but also Gregory Itzen (President Logan) and especially Jean Smart (Mrs. Logan) who should have gotten an award for this. Also of note is the performance given by Glenn Morshower (Agent Aaron Pierce), one of the few honourable characters in the entire series. If you only have some of the 24 seasons, you must get this one. I guarantee you will not want to stop watching it once you've started! Fantastic stuff!

Fixated
This is quite simply the most engrossing series to reach television and Series 5 has everything and more! Arriving late to the series (where was I?) I started at the beginning and was immediately hooked into the plot lines and the characters. I know some of it is far fetched but a bit of fantasy does no harm and the script is so good that it somehow all hangs together. Jack and the crew seem to do anything and everything to save the world and yet at the end of each hour I am left on the edge of my seat wondering how Jack will survive one more time. It's difficult to stop viewing and reserve the next 24hours for another time. I"m afraid I am not like some who view the whole DVD in one sitting. Weird - and its more exciting if you have to wait for the next gripping installment. Its also my way of eeking out the viewing as there are only 3 series+Redemption left to view. What will I do then? Series 5 is the best so far for "heart in the mouth" suspense and excitement.
