Douk Audio HiFi Tube Bluetooth Preamp Receiver Balanced XLR/RCA Pre-Amplifier Headphone Amp (H8)

I was a bit skeptical purchasing the Douk H8, but I've decided giving it a try. What a surprise!!! I needed a preamp with XLR connections and I was using the Topping Pre-90 preamp, which is an excellent product, super neutral, quiet, good imaging.I'm using it connected to Denafrips Pontus II DAC and to Starkrimson Ultra amp.Douk H8 came with the tubes JAN5725W. Sound is okay, warm, but after switching with JAN5654W, I got a good sound improvement in terms of precision particularly on high frequencies.The remote controller looks cheap, but it is functional with volume control, tone, equalization and loudness controls. I can point it to any direction in my room, and it works fine, which is not true with the remote controller that comes with Topping Pre-90.In that price range, there is nothing that can beat the H8. Warm and detailed sound, quiet and neutral. So far I've not found anything bad on it.Chinese audio related equipment companies have improved a lot lately!!There is only one thing that bothered me when I opened the box. I could hear something loose inside the preamp. It was a small screw that probably the assembler dropped inside.Product is working perfectly!Thanks to Douk for the excellent product.

Music sounds great through this. Have a geshelli J2 DAC going to this preamp and this gives just a touch of needed warmth to the sound.The only complaint I have with this preamp is the remote. The remote doesn't work all the time, even at a close range. Not sure if I got a faulty remote or not, but I would still recommend this preamp because it sounds great.

The preamp sounds fine. Good, in fact. The remote is convenient, but the tolerance on fit is not great. The left tube connection is poor on my unit. The rca connect is possible, but requires finding the perfect match. I would not use this as a headphone amp. But when it is working well, it is ingenuous and thoughtfully designed and very adequate in sound quality for the price. Buy with caution. Update to remote one star because the left channel tube pops out when the unit gets warm. Irritating to repeat it again and again.

This is a great product at a great price. It’s solid. I’m a professional musician and know good sound. This piece allows me to stream music to it, warm up the sound with tubes, use tone control and volume via remote, and output balanced xlr to my Crown power amp and Martin Logan electro stats. It’s sonic bliss at a crazy low price. Using the 5654 tubes. Highly recommend.

Yes! The perfect solution to amplify my pathetically weak BenQ projector's audio signal enough to adequately drive my powered monitors/speakers and provide a platform to play music through my iPhone via Bluetooth through said monitors eliminating the mish-mash of audio devices I had going on in my living room. I haven't used the XLR inputs and might never but the RCA and Bluetooth channels work perfectly on this little unit. The remote is straight-forward easy to use. The only thing I don’t like about it is even when it’s off Bluetooth devices connect to it. I’m sitting here wondering why there’s no sound on my iPhone and it’s because it’s connected to the preamp but the preamp is off. Fix that and you get five stars.
