Lindt Excellence Sea Salt Chocolate 100 g (Pack of 5)

Bought some of this for myself and as a gift for a teen boy, from another source. He only likes plain chocolate which is not too sweet and also prefers chocolate with a high cocoa content. This has a 47% cocoa content, so it is not as high as some other plain chocolate (nor indeed some of Lindt's other plain varieties). Despite this, it has a well-balanced taste: rich and dark with a full flavour and velvety finish. It is the recipient's favourite of the Lindt range (and their favourite plain mint chocolate). Thankfully (for our tastes anyway) it is not nearly as sweet as Lindt's milk chocolate, and makes a refreshing treat after a meal.One more thing: on the package the mint flavour is described as 'intense', although the flavour is pronounced, we did not agree with this claim. So if you are looking for a powerful mint flavour then this does not have that (but it is still delicious).

Very Marmite! Chocolate that can divide the room, I love it but some friends think it's an aberration! I am not a "sweet" eater and I think that is the key to enjoying this, the combination of the dark choc bitterness and the saltiness(of the salt!!) is fabulous and very moreish. So if you buy this chocolate be prepared that you may end up having to eat it all yourself. Not necessarily bad thing.

I was dubious about trying chocolate with ‘salt’ but glad I took the risk! It doesn’t tasty salty at all but more like a caramel, less milky taste. Now my daily treat!The only problem is that the price seems to vary massively so keep an eye if making a repeat purchase.

I can completely understand the reviewer who said that this dark chocolate was too sweet for their taste. It is very sweet, particularly for a good quality dark chocolate. But in spite of this the concentrated and rich flavour is really rather luxurious, and the combination of the sweet and salt is like hot and sour soup or sweet and sour sauce - a perfect blend of contrasting flavours. As with other chocolate bars in the range it is beautifully presented in a card outer cover and foil inner cover. I showered it on people when I returned from a recent visit to Switzerland and it met with universal approval. The sea salt flavour is contained as crystals within the chocolate which burst into life on the tongue, blending with the richness of the choc. I brought this back from Switzerland with chilli and orange flavours, but to my considerable surprise everyone was most enthusiastic about the sea salt one. It is delicious and would make a good gift for dark chocolate enthusiasts.

I love the chocolate and purchased the pack of 5, as it worked out cheaper than supermarket prices. However, only 4 packs arrived and so had to ring up to obtain a partial refund. Couldn't fault the service from Amazon but nevertheless, still slightly disappointing.

I got 4 bar and I thought, phff, was it pnly 4, I thought it was 5 in the pack. But I thought I must have been mistaken. However it turns out I'm not mistaken. It should have been 5. I should have checked straight away but unfortunately this is about 10 days later. CHECK.

This is a lot of mint chocolate. My resident mint chocolate addict swears this is the best make, and who am I to argue? One happy chocoholic on her birthday.
