I received a 34cm Galileo thermometer as a Christmas present 10 years ago and am still delighted with it. I bought this 28cm one as a Christmas gift for a friend. I hope the recipient will be as delighted to receive it as I was mine. It makes an interesting and unusual gift which always attracts attention. One reviewer said they had to shake theirs but, if it appears not to be working, all it needs is a gentle twist from to side to agitate the liquid slightly. If the globes cluster together and appear static try moving it to a different location where there's more fluctuation in temperature, but keep away from direct heat. After reading one bad review I unpacked this as soon as it arrived and it worked perfectly. My hands were very warm in contrast to the very cold glass so I tested it by placing my hands round it (one above the other) to warm it up slightly. Within a couple of minutes the globes began to move in response to the rise in temperature. They have a sturdy glass base and don't just fall over as one reviewer said his did. It is common sense to place it where it won't get knocked over, also on a level surface. If you are thinking of getting one, go for it, I'm sure you will not be disappointed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great! Especially if you enjoy clever engineering *by J***L on 5 October 2021* Great desk top addition if you’re a science buff! Yeah it has a range of 2’C between bobbles and is slow to react to rapid environmental temperature changes… but it is very cool none the less! It’s like seeing a solar eclipse when you finally witness a bobble rise/fall!
