Absolute waste of money
Would not recommend purchasing this particular plate compactor. I received mine and the axle that holds the wheels on was bent. I did everything as instructed putting oil in and checking it along with fresh fuel, ran for about 5 minutes and then when I took it to the job site I tried to start the engine and the pulley wouldn't move. I also noticed that the engine casing was leaking oil. It turns out something inside the engine has fallen apart and you can turn the crankshaft forward and backward a couple of inches but something locks up internally. A local small engine repair shop believes that the wrist pin fell out . The manufacturer has not responded and there is no returning this so buy at your own risk!

Great value
It was easy to assemble and fired right up. The rubber plate came off after 15 minutes of use but didn't need it anyway.

Rubber stop for handle broke on first use.
Shipping was fast and the assembly instructions were easy to follow. It does require oil. It has signage in 2 places to remind you to fill with oil so that should not be a problem. I did use motorcycle air filter oil on the air filter. It did not ship with the pins to hold the wheels on. I had to use some I already had.I have used it one time for about 1 hour. It compacts very good compared to other commercial units in this size range. It did wear and break the rubber block on the left side on first use. I will update this review as my usage continues. I will have to figure out a way to fix this rubber block first.

A good plate compactor
The media could not be loaded. Prior to use, a small amount of assembly is required, which involves attaching the rear handle, wheel assembly and the front water nozzle. The instructions were very easy to follow and it went together quickly with no issues. In addition to the minor assembly, you need at add 1/2 liter of 10-30 weight motor oil and gasoline. It took a few pulls to prime the carburetor, after which, it started and ran well with a nice gentle idle. The engine seems to be well built. It ran very smoothly, and, after the initial priming, started on the first pull. The compactor comes with a removable water tank that connects to a section of pipe with holes in it located on the front of the unit. The water is gravity fed, controlled via a small brass ball valve screwed into the bottom of the plastic water tank. The ball valve on the unit I received is very stiff and barely turned, I was able to free it up a bit, but it is still a bit too stiff for my comfort. The water tank is very easily to remove without tools if desired, which is a nice feature, as I've found in my use, it is often not required. My first use of the compactor was to groom a few thousand square feet of decomposed granite (DG ) walkways after recent rains. It worked very well, yielding a tightly compacted base. In the attached video you can see it going up and down a slight slope under its own power with no assistance other than steering. The unit sits motionless at idle, however, once the RPMs are increased to activate the "exciter", it moves forward at a good speed, not too slow or too fast. It is very responsive, easy to control and steer. A small amount of vibration is transferred to the handle, but considering what it is doing, it seems very minimal and better than other compactors I have used.I am very pleased with the performance on both DG walkways and compacting roadbase on a driveway. This unit is easy to operate and does a very good job of compacting. At the time of this review, it was priced at under $650, which is a very good value compared to what is available to me locally. As I said, I am very happy with the quality and performance of this machine, and I have a long list of projects in store for it. I consider it a great find and an excellent value.
