LP-E4 Battery for CANON EOS-1Ds Mark III EOS-1D Mark

Great to be able to get a battery for my ageing Canon 1DS mk3 now that even the spares I bought some years ago are coming to the end of their lives.

This Canon compatible LP-E4 battery looks and feels so similar to the Canon OEM battery that, apart from the obvious differences in the label, you need to look very closely to find any subtle physical differences. Fortunately I found these differences to be insignificant when it came to installing the battery into my EOS 1Ds MKIII, with the neoprene rubber seal ensuring a secure and waterproof fit into the camera body. I was also pleased to discover that my camera displayed the level of charge of the battery in the top LCD screen and also in the 'Battery Info' menu on the rear screen, in addition to a display to show the actual health of the battery. Even the battery protective cover is virtually identical to the Canon version, with the same text being embossed onto it. See attached photos. I have not yet had the opportunity to test this battery over a prolonged period of time, but as the OEM and compatible batteries both use 11.1V, 2,300mAh Li-ion cells (2,400mAh for the compatible battery), I would expect this compatible battery to perform as well as a brand new Canon OEM battery, but at a fraction of the price. So overall I am very impressed with it and am pleased that I chose to purchase this battery to replace one of my Canon batteries that has degraded slightly over time. D. Andrew Doggart

Having just got it delivered, the longevity of the battery I do not know but there are several key things that I do. Firstly it fits in the camera properly and it charges in the twin battery Canon charger that came with the camera. Beyond this when charged I put it in the camera which both recognized it and showed it's charge status so I am a very happy bunny.

I bought this as a back-up battery for my 1DX.I did this after having read the reviews saying, it is not properly recognised by the camera and doesn't show battery power remaining level when in use.Both of these are correct in my case. But the battery charges fine and works perfectly well.So I bought it knowing this, so as a back-up it is perfect for about 20% of the cost of a branded version.

If I could have given this less than 1 star I would have. Doesn’t fit easily into the camera. It takes some time to wiggle and push into place. My own fault. You get what you pay for and I did.

Fantastic alternative to Canon's extortionate price. This battery thus far has lasted far longer than the original Canon battery, come on Canon if they can make a better battery at a better price, why can't you?
