Anne Of Green Gables Complete 8 Book Set

It's a fantastic book. I've read it lots of times when I was younger, and I've found it just as good now. The other Anne books are to follow. Anne of the Island is my absolute favourite, so I'm looking forward to that one.The very first time I heard this story was when I was 9 and the BBC dramatised it starring Kim Braden as Anne and then I read the book, which was very similar to the mini series that I'd watched. Then the BBC did Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island, together in one series, and Anne had grown a bit older and looked dreamy eyed, and, in my opinion, Kim Braden played that role marvelously!I've seen other versions of this story, but there is no comparison to Kim as Anne, and when I read these books, it's always Kim Braden as Anne in my mind.I have a copy of Anne of Avonlea on dvd, but I CAN NOT get Anne of G.G.(the 1972 miniseries) anywhere because, apparently, the archives have been lost! So disappointing.I don't know why I've gone on this rant about dvd's in a book review but it would be interesting to see if anyone feels the same or even HAS a copy of this 1972 version of Anne.The Kevin Sullivan's version of this is OK for the first book but he has completely ruined the second and third books ( in the televised version) in my opinion, and the actual books are much better! In the second Kevin Sullivan's dvd, he has based it more on "Anne of Windy Willows(or poplars)," which, to be fair, I've never read because I never wanted to! Even though I've had a copy for years.

Wonderful story, read it many years ago in my childhood and now in my 80th year I appreciated it even more. Such a lot of life’s lessons!

Beautifully written, descriptions are lovely and make one want to visit Prince Edward Island. A heart warming story filled with love and laughter, sadness and tears. I have read these books several times, as a child and as an adult.

The whole package has an atmospheric design and the books have that small paperback feel that is just right. To me the only big issue is that the pages are really thin and have that cheap newspaper look , which does not appeal to me because i cant focus on what im reading as i can see the letters on the other side of the page.That is why only gave 4 stars to this set.

I’m a bit late to the party! My friend has been recommending these books for years so I finally decided to read them (I’m now 65!j what a treat, they are by far the most entertaining, heartwarming and humorous books I’ve ever read. These should be a must in all schools

My daughter was eager to read the books after watching the film. She loves the books.

A wonderful series of books that all children should read. The first two books would be great for boys and girls, but I think that the remaining ones will hold the interest of girls better.

Esta novela va a ser un reto grande, ya leí toda la saga completa en español y ahora quiero leerla en inglés. Tengo varios libros pendientes pero esta la quiero leer de tirón sin ninguna novela en inglés pendiente.Es una magnifica obra al menos para mi por eso quiero releerla en el idioma original.

Im Laufe der Jahre gab es etliche Verfilmungen, die ich auch gelegentlich leicht amüsiert angeschaut habe. Das Buch ist um Längen besser. Charmante, humorige, warmherzige und kluge Geschichte, sehr schön erzählt. Die anfangs etwas nervige, mit zuviel Phantasie und Dramatik gesegnete, dauerquasselnde Anne und ihre Entwicklung versteht man hier viel besser.
