Am replacing an HP injet .. print quality average but it defaults if costly HP cartridges are not used. Will this machine take refilled generic toner?

Yes it does. I replaced my laser by a Ricoh MP C 3003, so yes the HP can handle a lot of paper at a time, evenw ith generic toners. Sincerely yours, Frank.
