Update: after a month I've had no trouble with the replacement I was sent so have to put it down to bad luck and say I'm completely happy with the timer. It's worked flawlessly for a month now, happily switching loads of several hundred watts.-Original review-I used this to switch a total of about 300W off and then on once a day. It failed after one day.I was sent a replacement which looked to me as if it was a return (dirty scuff marks, protective plastic peeled off already).I've tested it manually and with the timer to cycle a 50W lamp and it works perfectly and is easy to program.I will try it on a higher load and if it fails like the first one, I will amend this review.It would be nice to have a suggested maximum load with this as I suspect the relay is not rated high enough for all my purposes.So the current four star rating is for a single, low to medium power device.

This timer is excellent! All the timers I've had over the years have been a real pain to "program". This is so simple! I use it to turn my electric blanket on & off. 10 sets of "on/off" can be set, making it a valuable piece of kit in many different situations. When the timer is on i.e. allowing electrical connection, a bright blue light shows. I have masked mine with translucent white tape for use in the bedroom, but the bright light would be handy if for example, you wanted to check at night that it had turned on the greenhouse without leaving the house. I shall probably get another one in order to use the "random on/off " feature with house lighting when I'm out. Highly recommended.

I purchased one of these originally to control a lamp downstairs using the timer function and it works fine. It switches on and off according to the program I set.However, I purchased a second one to use as a spare for when we go on holiday to use solely with the "random" feature and I simply cannot fathom how the random feature works.According to the updated instructions e-mailed to me, I'm supposed to set the timer to "auto" and then click the "random" button.I've done this but the timer then seems to switch on some time after 6:00pm but never switches off again. My understanding of a random feature would be that it switches on and off at random intervals between 6:00pm and 6:00am.Am I missing something?EDIT: Having received a couple of answer to my question relating to the random function of this timer, I feel it unfair to leave my review as 2 stars. My initial understanding of the random function is that it would switch on and off randomly between the hours set in the program. However, it appears that the random function simply means that the timer switches on at a random time some time after 6:00pm and then switches off again at around 6:00am. This means that is only switches on and off once within the random period, which isn't ideal.I have a very old digital timer that would switch on and off randomly betwen the times set in the program and I assumed that this new timer would do the same.I've still not given 5 stars as I don't feel the instructions are very clear at all in how it describes the random feature.

Struggled on too long with this. Too late to return. Had to request English instructions as not enclosed. Fairly easy to set up but not reliable. Programmes tended to disappear or not activate when required. I reset and reprogrammed several times as it was used for a water softener and hard water soon indicated that yet again it had failed. The final straw was having hard water yet again, when I checked it the clock had lost over an hour since I had reset it the week before. Binned it !!

I have been trying out this electronic time switch for several weeks now; seems to be both a quality and reliable item, so have purchased a second and probably, third. We've had mechanical timers for years, but they are fiddly to set using the pins, and lately the replacement ones are quite noisy. However the key advantage for this switch is that it doesn't lose its settings during a power cut - this was brought home to me when several homes nearby were without power for about eight hours recently. If you are away from home and an outage of this length occurs, then your mechanical timer is scuppered - this timer is said to keep its settings for 100 hours, so your home will still look occupied!

I bought the timer to work with my aquarium. It does the job and so far is working well. The build quality is good and comes with easy to understand instructions. My only compliant with the product is the display really needs a back light, the LED that shows the device is working is so bright that I can't read the display made worse in poor light conditions.

I've now bought a second one of these excellent digital timers having been very pleased with the first one. They are easy to programme and you can choose many options including particular days of the week and random operation. They run quietly, unlike the mechanical ones. The service from the supplier was prompt and my order was swiftly followed by an email from them with full instructions and offering customer service if required. I highly recommend both product and supplier.

It runs slow. At least once a day I have to adjust the current time. I wouldn't recommend this.
