Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Great condition. Must-have for Clone Wars fans!
My first experience with a used DVD. The one I bought arrived in like new condition. The packaging & DVD are in perfect shape. No scratches or issues with the DVD.The storyline of this Clone Wars movie is a bit cheesy (aimed at children) & Ahsoka came across as a snooty brat. BUT this movie is *VITAL* because it sets up the whole Clone Wars CGI 6-season series, which we purchased from another source here on Amazon. The series is awesome, even for teens & adults, and this movie is the series opener & introduces Anakin's padawin, Ahsoka. Ahsoka's character development is a huge part of the series & she is now my teen daughter & I's absolute favorite character in the Star Wars universe. Now seeing her start off as a snippy brat in this opening movie isn't so bad since we know her personality/character better & that she matures into a wonderful person. It was exciting to see her return for the Rebels series (spoiler: Ahsoka LIVES!). (The Rebels series finale airs tonight!)

Brilliant customer service from seller
I am extremely satisfied with the customer service I received from this seller. I had an issue with the order I placed, the seller responded quickly and solved my problem promptly. I will buy again from this seller. Regarding the Movie, the Blu Ray arrived in excellent condition. This is an European Blu Ray, so make sure you have a Blu Ray compatible with this zone code. Thank you again for your great service, I'm delighted I could complete all this series collection for my two sons.

Can't believe I missed this when it was first on the air!
I picked up this DVD set more out of a sense of curiosity than anything else. I had been aware of the show's existence for quite some time, but had only seen a small handful of the episodes in first run. After watching the first few episodes, I rapidly came to realize that I had missed a great deal, and went about going through the rest of the set with great anticipation. This is certainly not just a "Star Wars" cartoon, but rather fully realized stories with fantastic artistry and magnificent voice work that does an excellent job of "filling in the gaps" between the prequel movies. In fact, I'd be willing to say that much of the material appearing on this series is at least as good as any of the Star Wars feature films. Obviously the filmmakers have a great deal of passion for the Star Wars universe, and we owe them a great deal of gratitude for all their efforts!

Great start to series, but not as good as what followed
I overall liked this movie, but like the series even more. This has been out of production for some time, and is not available even digitally. I have a feeling it may stay that way, given that WB is the distributor, and Disney is the owner now. So, this may be a real collectible at some point. Used prices tend to fluctuate, and you can find a deal if you're patient. I got this mostly for completeness, as I have all of the films and Clone Wars seasons.

Not the best Star Wars but not awful
If you're expecting this animated film to be like the live action films, you've made a mistake and will probably be disappointed. This isn't that nor is it trying to be. This is an action packed adventure and side story to fill in the gap between Episode 2 & 3. It's mostly action and comedy and not much else, but that's what's great about it. It knows what it is and it doesn't try to be anything more. Great for putting on when you just want to watch something with a lot of mostly-mindless action in the Star Wars universe. I enjoyed it but it probably won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Deserve the Attention of True Star Wars Fans
I'm not sure if ALL the novels and comic books spawned by Star Wars are consistent with the six live action films written by George Lucas. I don't see how they ALL can be. I know there was a lot of vetting done by the Luca organization, but some questionable stuff must have crept in to all those novels/comics as financial decisions trumped Star Wars dogma. But it is my understanding that this animated Clone Wars movie an the animated Cartoon Network series that followed were closely watched over by George Lucas himself and, as such, deserve the attention of true Star Wars fans. They are supposed to chronicle what happened during the Clone Wars.

I have a good feeling about this.
Show: 4/5 Video Quality: 5/5 Sound Quality: 4/5 Extras: 4/5 Overall: 4.25/5The Clone Wars must have inspired some kind of wonder ever since Mark Hamill mentioned it in a brief line in the first original movie. Even though it's briefly shown in the prequel films and a cool little cartoon made in 2003, there is still a lot to explore.Following the 2008 CGI Clone Wars movie, this show features the same funky blocky characters and semi-artistic rendering, but it seems to be of higher quality. Lighting effects, animation movements, lip movements, and action scenes overall seem much improved from the pilot film. More importantly, with multiple story lines to follow, the series offers better stories with deeper issues and stronger characters (characters ranging from the main heroes Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan, etc to the lesser known characters like Aayla Secura, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, etc). The show has loads of great action scenes and high-quality effects. There are adventures on many different worlds (once again, some well-known like Naboo, Coruscant, etc to lesser-known ones like Iego), each offering imaginative design and impressive imagery. Production design (sets, props, costumes, vehicles, weapons, etc) matches the Star Wars universe and fits in perfectly; fans should be able to recognize a huge number of familiar elements, mixed in with cool new stuff. Music is not bad. All together, it's an awesome show that fits nicely in the franchise. This disc set features perfect PQ; I could not find any faults with it whatsoever. It's very sharp and clean, with excellent color and contrast. It is presented in an aspect ratio that is wider than the original broadcast version, providing more of the image to be seen. Sound quality is acceptable (Dolby Digital 5.1), but as a lossy soundtrack, it's not as clean as it could have been, and lacks impact (despite the show's cool sound design). This set includes some cool extras (featurettes, a database feature, trailers, etc). It comes in a large, thick, rather nice digibook-type package with some cool production art inside.

Buy as a primer for the far better TV series that followed
Initially this seemed to be a one off TV movie that covers a little of the ground between SW EP 2 and 3. The story is okay, the Jabba part being the weakest. However the most important thing about this, is that it is essentially the pilot for the subsequent 5 seasons of the Clone Wars TV series. The mildly annoying (but then she is a kid being thrust into a war) Ansoka turns into one of the best characters ever (IMHO) in the subsequent series. So my recommendation is, buy this at the same time as the 5 season boxset of Clone Wars. Watch this first and then REALLY enjoy the series afterwards.

Great Star Wars entertainment
I had very low expectations as an adult going into this - assumed this would be a very 'kiddy' show but this is actually a lot of fun and very accessible for all ages. Highly recommended for all core fans - also do watch the bonus features - the interviews and segments with the production crew is really interesting and insightful.

Wow...oh Wow!
For whatever reason - be it pig-headed stubborness or stupidity - I have only just seen this film. I love the original trilogy and found the prequel trilogy to be adequate (Phantom Menace), very good (Attack of the Clones) and excellent (Revenge of the Sith). But, knowing that the Clone Wars was set between AotC and RotS left me feeling a little cold and uninterested. Now, if it has been set after Return of the Jedi that would be a different matter.Nonetheless, when the boxset of Seasons 1 & 2 appears in a sale I thought I'd give it a try. To coincide I ordered this film too. Thankfully it arrived first and I was able to watch it. After the first few minutes of adjustment to the animation style I found myself totally engrossed and immersed into the Star Wars universe once again. While the story is not intricately involved it is still very effective and engaging. I was probably only 30 minutes in when I realised I was hooked. I promptly cancelled my order for Seasons 1 & 2 and changed it to Seasons 1-3!Anyone who has doubts - all you lovers of the original trilogy - open your hearts and minds and give this a try; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.I was very impressed with the blu-ray picture quality too; although a little disappointed that the audio was only DD5.1. But, having said that, it's a very good DD5.1 track!

Star Wars The Clone Wars
When I heard another Star Wars movie was coming out I was quite relieved as many people were dissapointed with Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith though I wasn't, but when I saw it in aninmation as a trailer I thought Lucas had gone mad. But I saw the flaw of it, star wars episode 2 and 3 missed out a point that the expanded universe needed from those films that never was until now which was what happened between the Clone War events? though there have been comics and the first volume of the Clone Wars in 2003 I was quite intrested to see how this would go. When I bought it off amazon and watched it, I saw mistakes and good points so this is what I thought:The storyline was simple to follow which was good, Jabba the hutt's son was kinapped by what semmed to be the sepratists so Jabba the hutt erges help from the Jedi's to go save his son which would be hard to think he had a son really, so Lucas has thought this through, Brining in the clones many battles are fought against the battle droids and new chacrters are randomly introduced, like Asouka and Ventress but brings more to the expnded universe. Dooku being the criminal since episode 2 tries to cheat throughout the movie, though I won't spoil anything for those who have not seen it him and Ventress have a totally new side to them, in return to bringing back jabba's son the clone's get to roam through Jabba's palace which is where Dooku's scheming mind comes into it.The good points of this is that the characters are well recognised, new characters are seen, the Clone's have a different side to them as they battle in fighting modes and shout "clankers!" all the time and go rambo on them, the battle droids make the film funny and during a great Dooku and Anakin scene, Anakin's past and dark side is seen. The bas side of things is that it's aimed for children because I saw that Lucas wanted to portray the characters again in a different way, people who haven't seen Star wars before he wants them to get into it so he portrays Anakin as a good person but in a bad way. The action is all good but what makes it bad is the actors voices, Obi-Wan sounds over posh and not wise, Anakin sounds not Anakin, he sounds more like Ob-Wan and Palpatine's voice sounds terrible, Mace Windu even in the tv series is terrible, he has little viewing on the movie as does Yoda except in episode 1 of the tv series. The only good voices are Asouka as it gives a new background to a new character and Ventress, despite her mood swings and stress every time she loses she has a good villain character. There are good things and bad things about this, suppose the last bad thing is that when watching it sometimes you enjoy it, sometimes after wtaching it a second time like with my brother he said it was like watching a game like a cut scene is on and then its your turn to start playing which sometimes I agree with him but it was 50/50 because of the expanded universe timeline. Mostly I would say the tv series is better but because I'm a major Star Wars fan I liked it in ways, sorry if this review doesn't help most people.

I like the way the battles are drawn because the Clone ...
The Clone Wars [Series 1] tells the story of how the Malevolence [the most powerful ship in the universe, armed with a plasma cannon] is destroyed by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Master Yoda lands on a remote planet to make peace with King Kotoko and Asajj Ventress challenges Yoda to decide who is the most powerful. The second DVD tells the story of when R2-D2 is lost in a battlefield in the sky and the Separatists want to capture him because he holds the secrets of the Clones, how they fight battles and their DNA. DVD 3 tells how the Snowtroopers manage to make peace with the Lurmen and kill the leader of the planet Orto Plutonia. The fourth DVD deals with how the Clones fought to save everyone in the galaxy and how the Blue Shadow Virus almost spreads across all the galaxies and, because it is toxic, it threatens to kill everyone.I like the way the battles are drawn because the Clone Troopers look amazing – they move in really awesome ways! The Droids are like zombies, whereas the Clone Troopers are agile and athletic! I would recommend this collection of DVDs for people who love dramatic swordfights and exciting battles where it is not clear who is going to win.
