Meowant Automatic Cat Litter Box Self Cleaning, APP Control, Large Space

I want to preface this review by saying I've been fostering cats for almost 20 years. My first automatic was the infomercial Littermaid and I'm no stranger to the weird, wonderful, and frustratingly nutty hacker universe of automatic litter boxes. I've had Litter-Robots since the II model and currently have four LR3s. Two of which are currently malfunctioning. Although my units range in age from 7 to 1.5 years, all of them have had mechanical issues at one point. Fortunately spare parts are available through Whisker or Robot Shop, but being good at troubleshooting and handy with a screwdriver should be a requirement for purchase of a Litter-Robot! For their extraordinary cost, I didn't think it was unreasonable to expect them to work flawlessly for *at least* a couple years before having to fix something. Yet, almost on schedule, a little over a year would pass and the new unit would start acting up. I never felt sure enough about the LR3s to ditch the manual boxes. Enter the MEOWANT. I follow One Man Five Cats on YouTube for his in-depth videos on all the new automatic litter boxes which have flooded the market in the past few years. Though he still put the Litter-Robot 4 at the top of his list, he felt the Meowant was the safest, didn't leak (!) and was half the price of the LR4 (!!!). I figured it was worth a shot. There was even a coupon for $80 off when I pulled the trigger. Now, almost four months later, me and the cats are very happy with the purchase. I even got another! Since the units are in my cattery, and because I have a revolving door with various cats, the app functionality isn't important to me. Reliability, safety and ease of use are my top demands and the Meowant hasn't disappointed. PROS: Very reliable. Not once have I found the drum stuck in the upside down position or non-operational as I often do with the LR3s. It's also easier to disassemble, empty and clean. Many of my foster kitties find the low entry more cat-friendly and start using the Meowant immediately. They're mesmerized and will often run up to watch it turn, allowing me to monitor how well the sensors are working. The Meowant's IR sensors are far better than the LR3s safety features, which only sense weight in the drum or bumping. Because of the Meowant's excellent sensors and simpler waste dumping, it seems almost impossible to me for a cat to get hurt (of course you wouldn't want tiny kittens in there, use some common sense). It's also nearly silent, except for the sound of tumbling clumps. CONS: The low entry means if you have kickers or head-in pee-ers or poopers, there's more to clean up. A surprising (maybe even shocking) amount of litter falls between the drum and the base, especially in front of the opening. You can find fences to fit the Meowant on Etsy, which will help. The filter screen gauge is too big (maybe 2x as open as the LR3) and can leave a lot of bits and chunks behind (especially with soft poops), meaning you'll have to "detail" your litter by hand. The latch on the waste door can be hard to open, part of which is due to litter getting into the cracks and holes around the waste receptacle area. I don't use a liner, so it would've been nice if the yellow bin liner holder could've been a handle instead, so I wouldn't have to reach into the dirty bin to lift it out for emptying. There's no on/off button, so the unit needs to be unplugged before emptying the waste bin, tidying up, or doing anything that might take longer than a minute. Since the company and the Meowant haven't been around for very long, customer service, warranty and finding spare parts could be problematic. Despite my lengthy con section, I'm actually contemplating buying another unit. The thing just works and has made my crazy cat life easier, instead of adding frustration and buyer's remorse.

**UPDATE: No litter box can completely eliminate odor and this one works pretty well. I also stuck a rechargeable ION deodorizer on the left inside of the drum. This way, it isn't in the way of the cleaning rotation; and it comes off to charge or to clean the drum. It was noticeably better so much - that there is nearly zero odor within minutes of the kat using the box. While some speak to the litter that is stuck to the paws (normal), by putting the paver outside for a step up, it also helps with the litter issue. Lastly, the customer who made the suggestion that a sliding door closes when it rotates would be an excellent idea!! My kat does like to "interfere" with the rotation - and the device works well to pause while she's being nosy. I did a lot of looking; chatted with several companies, and bought an open box (since Kona seemed to prefer) that was more work than not. This product is great. First, the communication is excellent (although not by email. Def go through Amazon messages). It is quiet and Kona used it right away. After a week, she is still hesitant, and accepting. The comments about size is odd. It is less wide than almost any others. So, for smaller spaces, it is great. The instructions could use more explanation about the features although it is not too difficult to figure out. On the be aware category, some comment on the litter outside the box. There can be a little (the mat catches it though). Over time, it is less and less because Kona was pawing it from outside and I also reduced the fill. (Note the fill line is not the yellow sticker - it’s the embossed line inside the box as I made that mistake). When a cat is pawing at it; the box registered weight. For those that aren’t the registered cats, those should be able to be deleted (a tip for the future app updates). On odor, it does not have an ION system like others. I slipped a Febreze small spaces (pet) in the bottom of the waste container before putting in the bag.. that helps so much when opening to remove the waste bag. A future version could be 1-1.5 inches deeper. Kona is on the smaller side, and can imagine a really big cat might be a problem. I put a brick in the front to create a step up for Kona and that also serves as a slight enough weight to keep the mat in place.. While she didn’t need the step because it’s entrance is one of the shortest among others, I did it in the early stage to help her get used to it and like that it gives an additional purpose. *you can see it in the photo One of the comments earlier said it only measured in kg - it measures in pounds. The accuracy of the scale is just okay. I highly recommend - for the price, you get an excellent litter box that takes care of itself.

It is a nice automatic cleaner, however must be emptied frequently as the disposal area doesn’t hold much. Cleaning it is also very difficult. Safety features are very good, no danger to my cat

I absolutely love everything about this!! It functions really well and its suuuuupppper quiet, aside from the clumps landing into the bin. The phone app works really well. It gets the weight and duration, and once you track the weight you generally know which cat it is. However. And, keep in mind, I am not, and will not return it. Again...its amazing. Does everything it should!! Carl on the other hand..used it once. It cycled through and he hasn't used it since. But he loves to sit and watch it, so...as smart as he is..he steps his front feet in (only the front), stands there, looks around inside it and steps out. Then he watches it cycle. I have turned it 100% off for now, so he stops playing the Meowant game. I'm hoping his fascination and curiosity will fade and, maybe Carl will use it again. It was super easy to assemble, if you can even call it that because it was so simple. It looks nice and its super easy to clean. Definitely a good value and purchase.

First, there is no perfect litter robot. You have to find what works for you. Problems I encounter: Setting up Connecting to internet Timing is key, you have to press your router button and start the setup on the litter box simultaneously or it will not work. Took me about 4 attempt to get it right. Setting up the app; The app is only good for being notified when your pets go potty if you have more than one cat. It may work better for a single cat. Very poor odor control: It's made of plastic which holds odor Cleaning and disinfecting is very important. The sensors don't work as well as I hoped. My cats’ weight is recorded differently each time they go and never close to their actual weight. The sensors are super sensitive so if you mistakenly add a cat with a weight of 1lb as I did then clumping litter will stop it from cleaning because the machine thinks a cat is in the box. In one of the previous videos gentlemen couldn't figure out why the box was malfunctioning, I believe he was having this issue, so I fixed my issue by rebooting to factory settings. What I don't like The litter grate holes are too big so cat waste gets left behind so I still have to scoop every so often. It is two pieces with a large opening in the base so litter spills in the bottom, haven't seen any cat waste like some others but I'm sure it's possible. Very poor odor control but I've found a few ways to work around that Cleaning is time consuming but better than scooping several times a day and I definitely don't recommend hosing it down as they suggest as I feel that would damage the sensors and other electronic parts. I do think this is over priced but I had the Amazon coupons discount which is really why I bought this. Every thing sticks to this thing; litter, poop, and pee so you will have to clean I recommend at least once a weak What I like: It is super quiet It is roomy so the cats are comfortable with using it, they also like watching it clean. I do like how sensitive the sensors are because I know my fur babies won't get caught in the box or injured during cleaning just wish they recorded weight properly. My tips Don't use clay-clumping litter it confuses the sensors. I was using a corn-based clumping litter (sustainably yours) which worked well and is my favorite. I recently switched to fresh step (kind of like pretty litter) litter to help with odor control, i’m not sure if I'm going to stick with it as it is a little dusty and causes a bit of a mess in the waste bin area as it does not clump. If you have multiple cats empty the bin at least once a day to avoid lingering odor and if the bin is too heavy the unit will malfunction and have to be rebooted as well. I also use hefty odor control 4-gallon bags instead of the bags that came with the unit. The hefty bags help with odor control tremendously. I clean and sanitize the entire unit once a week. By emptying the waste bin and using a another hefty bag and the empty litter feature to empty the litter. I save money on litter because once I finish cleaning I poke wholes in the hefty bag and use it as a sifting bag to put the litter back in without the cat waste the unit missed. I change the litter out completely a month. I recommend adding the litter from the waste bin flap instead of trying to add it in the drum opening anytime you add or change litter, it's a lot easier to pour in and less messy. I also use scouts litter box odor control spray. After I've cleaned and sanatized the unit I lightly spray the inside of the drum and the waste bin area this helps with odor control really well too. I use a soft sponge wand ( sponge with a handle) and a bowl of hot soapy water ( I use Dr. Bronner's tea tree Castile soap) to clean the unit. Then I. Wipe it dry with a regular soft sponge. Cleaning takes me about 30-45minutes. Also recommend setting the auto clean time at some where between 3-5 minutes. The timer starts when you cat enters the unit not after they leave, so if they have been it a minute or two soon as they exit the unit starts to clean which can get messy if poop hasn't hardened or urine isn't quite solid or hasn't been absorbed by the litter. What I wish it did Notified you when litter waste bin is full Suggest when to replace the litter/ tracked litter level A better app That It was one whole unit instead of 2 seperate pieces I think if the company revamped this and put a deep enough waste bin in the opening in the base it would make more sense. Instead of the waste bin flap that covers the opening to the waste bin, a door that seals the bin itself to help with odor control would be nice. The more popular and expensive models have this feature. I wish the waste bin was else were so the drum doesn't rotate all the way around because litter spills out during empty mode when the bin is upside down. If it was at the bottom as mentioned earlier, it would only have to rotate slightly more than halfway and would be less messy. I wish it was made from something other than plastic so it wouldn't hold as much odor. Better Wi-Fi connectivity A litter trap tray because the litter mat they provided is useless. I purchased the petkit or petki litter tray for 69 bucks on Amazon that seem to work well. Also a built in litter guard so the cats don't kick the litter out of the box I purchased one through an app called shop from dynamic pet design I believe it was, you can google meowwant or aribo litter guard and it will come up, it was like 20 bucks for a bundle with 3 different sizes for you to choose what works best. A litter grate with smaller wholes so pet waste doesn't get left behind and need to be hand scooped because that's the point of the automatic litter box right🤨 Overall I mean it does its job not as well as I would like. it's ok if you don't mind putting in a little extra work for your comfort. As is, definitely over priced, should be $200-$250, I feel that price range is more reasonable. If the company made the suggested changes and improved the app it could compete with the higher priced litter bots at around $500-$600 bucks, i’d be willing to pay for it. I apologize for the long review but wanted to give my honest opinion to help others make the best choice possible. I'll hang on to it, like I said it does the job it was designed to do but I am shopping for one that better suits my needs. I hope this helps someone and I hope the company looks into making some if not all the changes I suggested instead of just changing the color as they did for the I guess newer version.

We’ve had our MeowWant litter box for about 9 months now. I got it shortly after we adopted our littlest of two Siberian cats after I realized how much of a pain it was to hand-scoop two girls’ worth of waste every day. It’sgot its flaws, but it’s infinitely better than hand-scooping. It’s got a small enough footprint that it doesn’t take up too much space in our little apartment bathroom, but it’s large enough on the inside that our ultra-fluffy 13lb 3yr old girl can pretty comfortably go potty, turn around, and dig without being cramped. It works as intended probably 90% of the time, which is as good as it gets right now (skip to the last paragraph for my TLDR on why, and my reasoning for recommending it). 1. The app is nothing to write home about; I thought it would be a great way to keep track of their weight, but it turns out that it just kind of upsets the machine to have an integrated scale (of questionable accuracy), and it disconnects from my phone anytime it’s unplugged/reset, so eventually I just stopped reconnecting it. Our girls will also play on top of it, which triggers the weight sensor and logs it as potty time, which totally throws off the data. I only really needed to connect it once at the beginning to set our cleaning cycle times (8am, 12pm, 5pm, 12am), but otherwise I’m fine with not getting notifications. The machine itself is usually well-behaved, but like all auto-scooping litter boxes on the market, it can be finicky. 2. You have to be really, really careful to shut the waste bin door all the way after opening it up, making sure it is latched and flush against the curve of the barrel before walking away. If it’s left partially open or a corner is sticking out, it’ll catch on its next cycle and spill the contents of the upside down all over the floor. As the lights are blinking red, you have to remove the back part, pick up the barrel, and physically rotate it back into position (and shut the waste bin door properly), unplug it and plug it back in to get it to complete a spill-free cycle if this happens. 3. I recommend keeping a hand-vac handy/near the litter box in case of this, and in general; it’s quite shallow and low to the ground, so if your cat(s) are big on digging like our girls are, litter will end up on floor anyway. Since it’s across from our toilet, I literally just vacuum the surrounding area whenever I pee (…in the human toilet, lol), which makes it very easy. 4. You also must be mindful about what kind of litter you use. The advertisement states that it can take tofu or larger/longer-sized litter pellets, but it really can’t without wasting a bunch of it, as it will mistakenly sift larger particles into the waste bin. We’ve tried 6+ different types of liter with this box, and the ones we’ve found to be the best are ones with very fine, heavy particles, such as BoxyCat or other standard clay litter, or Sustainably Yours corn litter (we love this stuff, it’s just a little spendy). 5. The holes are currently large enough that poops the size of a marble or smaller will be sifted back in with the clean litter. That’s not a huge deal if your litter is really absorbent and dries out the “leftovers,” but I think they should market this for use with the small grain litters and not for use with tofu litters, so they could make the grate smaller in order to catch the small poops. Those things may seem like glaring issues, but they are not specific to MeowWant. Even the biggest, most expensive, most complicated, fanciest-seeming litter boxes have issues, many of which overlap with the issues that this one has. The main thing I learned during the hours upon hours of research I did prior to purchasing this litter box was that the auto-scooping litter robot market as a whole has a long way to go before these are more reliable and commonplace. The thing that *is* unique to MeowWant is the impeccable customer service. They’ve been incredibly accomodating, friendly, and responsive responsive to our concerns in a way that has me believing they actually take what customers say into account when considering design tweaks for future iterations of this product, which is very encouraging (and exceedingly rare). Overall, for now, I genuinely believe this is one of the best auto-scooping boxes available. Between the small footprint, large inside space, quiet operation, and relative ease of use & cleaning (tip: use some enzyme wipes/spray/foam in between deep cleans) make it totally worthwhile if your goal is to save time and energy dealing with your furbaby’s excrement, especially if you don’t have a ton of space or money for a “nicer one.” I’ll put it this way: cleaning up after the occasional litter box malfunction takes a lot less time and energy than scooping a regular litter box multiple times a day. Unless you want to wait for the industry to catch up, this is worth getting. Edit: Although it is not advertised to work with crystal/silica litter, it does sift out the poo and stirs it around enough to not clump, though you may want to scrape the bottom every so often if you go this route. We had to switch away from the clay litter because it was causing our older girl’s tear ducts to plug up, and we can’t use plant based litter because my partner is super allergic to the dust from it. I’m happy to report that it’s working quite well with FreshStep’s blue crystal litter (I don’t remember the exact name. It is not scented), both for us and the girls :)

I've had this for a year and it still works great -- the cats love it (2 cats household) I like it so much I bought a second and gifted it to my daughter (and her cats love it too). The wifi & app provide nice connectivity and is useful for monitoring your cat(s) I've never used a litter robot, but with the meowant at less than half the price, I probably never will. My cats are young and excrete down. I had older cats who like to go against walls, or outside the box -- if this is your life, I'm sorry.... and I cannot determine if this machine is for you (but I assure you it is way better than a square pan or cheapo rake machine.) Litter: I have used a variety of clumping litter from tidy cat to fresh step and arm& hammer all work well Cleaning: Sometimes small poop nuggets do not extracted, but 99% do. It's easy to take the cave off and do a deep clean (important if your cat goes sideways instead of down into the litter) Smell: The odor containment is fantastic. My daughter keeps the machine in her bedroom and there is minimal smell, even when she forgets to empty it monthly. Safety: My cat like to play with this as a toy, waiting for it to start to clean an then smacking the front to make it pause. When she finally gets bored of the game it happily finishes cleaning. It moves slowly and even though she has been know to jump inside when it pauses, we have never had an issue or concern about her getting stuck or hurt. Tips: o You can buy the special "deodorizer" packets, or use a Febreze/glade/etc stick-on in the waste collection bin - personally, I just use a scented dryer sheet which I replace when I empty the bin. o The app is nice, but as outlined in the directions, weight will not be accurately reported if the unit is not placed on a hard surface. (Did I mention the WIFI App reports on weight, usage of the box, time going, and other useful kitty health metrics?) o You can use small garbage bags rather than the special bags designed for the system. All-in-All I recommend the meowant to all my cat owning friends (Paid around $360 each)

This is 1st meowant box, but already had a different brand automatic litter box. So, have something to compare new box w/now. Been using automatic boxes for abt 2 months. Have 5 cats; rescued a feral litter this summer from our French drains. Cleaning 5 litter boxes daily was backbreaking. 1st one bought, is approximately 8 inches off ground; has leg attachments. This box is closer to ground. The interior of older one is much larger to accommodate our larger cat of 18 lbs; which has been great! However, our big boy still gets in this box just fine. The other box also has a variety of different back lights; this one does not. What I don’t like about the other box is that it only records weight in kilograms, not pounds (this one allows you to choose) & it doesn’t tell you which cat is using the box. Very generic. This box also comes w/a nice litter catch mat w/tape strips on bottom. Not recommended to put anything under box but tape will keep the mat in place in front of box. Not recommended on carpet/rug. Have had no mechanical issues w/it rotating while a cat is in there or if a cat tries to poke its head in; even just a slight peek. I get a text alert anytime a cat enters, when it’s cleaning, when drawer is open, or if there is something wrong. If a cat pops his head in just for a second… It’ll stop if in process of cleaning. Even records if a cat stays in there too long; cat might be in box asleep…which has happened! It’ll allow you to enter in as many cats as you want on their app but only 4 cats will show up as thumbnail icons for selection & weight adjustments. However, all my cats are programmed in there & it will allow to adjust weight for all of them as they’re gaining or losing weight once they’ve used box. The only issue I really had w/this function is if cats weigh w/in a pound of each other, it has a hard time differentiating which cat is in box. Occasionally, it picks up random weight anomalies too. My guess is the cat must not have stayed in box long enough for it to have measured an accurate weight. It says not recommended for cats under 4 lbs but for some reason, it keeps registering 1 of my cats weighs 1.1 lbs…which is beyond belief if you saw the size of the cats; all weigh over 9 lbs. It wasn’t difficult to assemble but back cover doesn’t seem to fit well. It sets down on the base like a cradle; entire box rotates (other box doesn’t). I set both up to clean after 12 minutes to allow time for clumping of litter to get more firm (clumping litter recommended). Otherwise, will have a gooey mess to clean off the raking mechanism. Overall, nice box for way less than the litter “Robot” brand. Is it gonna smell? Yep, it’s still a litter box & if you’ve got one that doesn’t cover poo… then, still gonna have that to contend w/as well. I’ve been emptying deposit trays daily to keep smell down. It’s way better than traditional box for sure. But keep old ones until they acclimate to new one. We’re still keeping 2 traditional boxes they’ll have access to in garage; thru cat door. Recommend putting a little of old box litter in it to attract them easier. I didn’t do this & they took to it fairly quickly! If you have cats abt the same weight, then probably not going to tell one from the other. This function would be better suited for cats who have weights that are greater than 1 lb difference & have stopped growing spurts. Otherwise, going to be re-weighing kitties often to adjust in app. I do keep the litter level up to max line; adding more litter every day or 2. And if have a cat that likes to dig deep into the trenches…gonna want one w/a litter mat for sure! Had to buy one for the older box. Glad this one already included. It takes up less space than the other auto box but since entire box rotates, it cannot be against a wall. This doesn’t take up any more room than traditional box; just more vertical height. We’ve been using a small utility pantry for yrs (w/ exact dimensions); thought this one would be great replacement in that area but, it doesn’t allow enough space for rotation…plus, would have to remove the entire door frame & keep it off; which negates entire purpose of keeping it out of sight. Reason put cat door on this pantry… Oh well! It’s a new thing and still has a few bugs w/ the app. It’s hard to say if this warrants a 5 or 3 star rating. I’m giving it 4 bcz it’s a nice box for the cost & has a few extra features (not really necessary tho).

After researching quite a few self-cleaning litter trays, I decided to go with this one and I'm so glad I did. It has made a huge difference to daily litter box maintenance and has saved so much time. The automatic cleaning function works well, keeping the litter fresh throughout the day and reducing odours significantly compared to a traditional tray. One of the biggest positives is how spacious it is. I have a larger cat and there is still plenty of room for them to turn around comfortably. The safety features also give peace of mind, as the unit stops when it detects movement, so I don't have to worry about my cats using it. The app setup was straightforward and it's really useful being able to monitor usage, cleaning cycles, and litter levels from my phone. The odour control is much better than expected, and the waste compartment is easy to empty without any mess. The build quality feels solid and well designed, and despite looking quite high-tech, it's very simple to use. My cats adapted to it much quicker than I expected and now use it without any hesitation. The only thing to be aware of is that it takes up more space than a standard litter tray, but that's expected with any automatic unit and the benefits far outweigh that minor drawback. Overall, an excellent investment for cat owners. It keeps the litter cleaner, reduces smells, saves time, and makes life much easier. Highly recommended. 🐾😺

Easy set up, our cat adopted it very quickly. We couldn't use the app, because it says that it's not available in Australia. But nevertheless, we don't need it as much.

Edited review: Company contacted me after leaving the review asking me if i wanted a refund, or replacement product. Shocked to say the least. I left before 3 stars, see review below, not the worst review. However after speaking with them and explaining the problem, they sent me a new drum. And since the new drum is installed i no longer have a sticky lid. Works fine, opens normally. I in the meantime have tried out plenty of litter, and found the best one. now i no longer need to clean the whole box everytime. Its stays nice and clean, cats love it. And i love the low maintenance! Also you use waaaaayyy less litter. Very happy with purchase! Litter box works fine, cats like it. But changing the bag is a pain! The lid keeps getting stuck, trying to open it is like a 15 min job of just banging on it. The litter gets stuck in the opening of the closure, and the closure is a push button system. That when litter is stuck in it, cant be pushed to open. It drives me mad. Also 4/5day MAX with 2 cats for 1 bag change. But the whole inside drum and lid of bin needs a full lysol/bleach clean. Not a bad machine overall, except the waste bag compartment

Update - Its been a year and everything below in my review is still accurate. Game changer amd has been amazing. Meowant got this machine right! The other models I've heard of issues, this is the model you need! 3 adult cats use this and I change the waste bin 2x a week.. I use good quality clumping clay litter and I use 10 l compost bin bags for the waste bin. First off I never write reviews, but helping me with litter box maintenance for my furbabies is a priority for me as a full time working mom. I have had the Meowant for 2 weeks now and have just gone through a situation where I had to thoroughly clean due to a little poop on the edge mishap. I had a little Robot 3, and base my comparison off that. I have to say I think the Meowant is a superior machine and I think other than it being new, in the long term time will tell. My LR3 lasted about 2 years before I could not resolve error codes. I tried to convert to the upgrade with ap, however nothing resolved and I gave up. The LR3 was hard to understand. So far the Meowant does what I need it too. It operates flawlessly automatically, does a cycle when I force it to and stops when anything is near. With the LR3 I was left with poop streaks on the interior and was very difficult to deep clean. The globe was heavy, the back was frustratinginly difficult to attach and lots of crevices for litter in the base and the electrical components The Meowant base is open...any litter mess goes on the floor. can't enter the internal works and the electronics. Set up and app install was simple. I admit I did have a second where I thought it didn't work, but once I read the on screen instructions on my phone instead of installing how I thought...it was flawless. Cleaning a poop on the edge mishap was a breeze, the globe is lighter weight and was easy to lift off. The back is user friendly to remove and reattach. and the base is open and no chance of soiled material entering electrical components . A simple spray, wipe and sweep has restored my lifesaving litter box to new. The Meowant surprisingly and generously came with a litter mat ( which works incredibly well) and a pack of disposal bags. I have found my compost container bags will also fit. I also read somewhere that someone used no bags and just dumped the litter and cleaned the comtainer...an economical and environmentally friendly idea. I used to use 2 boxes of 22kg litter a week and I've used less than 1 box so far. I think this will save me money in the long run and hoping it lasts me 2 years at least. few tips: make sure the disposal bag is tucked to the side near where the litter enters not to interfere with the trap door opening; have a little broom from the dollar store to sweep away any little litter particles that may be around where disposal door closes so it closes tightly. Just a few things to keep it working seamlessly. Sorry for long post but before making my decision over this and the LR4, I didn't find much info ( probably cause it's relatively new I think) but took a chance based on One Man Five Cats position that this was the #2, and about 45% less the cost I took a chance, and don't regret it.
