Hunting down uranium glass just got more interesting
The media could not be loaded. So I am a enthusiastic uranium glass hunter, the collection only gets bigger all the time.but I will admit I have made a couple of mistakes when I haven’t had a 395 UV torch on me.I had held of buying a Geiger counter as wasn’t very sure what I was looking at to be honest, but came across this one and read all the reviews and they we’re basically very positive.so I purchased one with the next day delivery. Perfect timing delivery wise and even had to give the driver a code so that made it super safe delivery wise. Neatly packaged and the unit itself was bubble wrapped within a sturdy box.no need to do anything on initial use as everything had been set up already including the date and full battery charge.having 82 pieces of uranium glass I was spoilt for choice. I went for a mix of old and modern and unknown to test the variations.I’m impressed. It gave me a basic room radiation reading of about 26cpm, the older Greta vase eventually came up as 119cpm,(I had to move it away from other pieces as the counter is that sensitive it was picking up other items nearby) and the modern one around 31cpm I also have some Vaseline glass which I’ll test later.all in all for the money I think it is great value and a look forward to taking it out and about and using it as well.always helpfully to double check things

An eye opener to the world of radium dials
Learning how to repair vintage watches is fascinating, but I can subject you to radioactive radium when you open a case. This GC has allowed me to identify and quantify the risks, and help me make an informed decision about how (or if) to attempt a repair. It's easy to use, reactive, flashes red when you get a really "hot" one, shows different units plus a graphing function. You can also download to your PC (not Mac ready but there are workarounds for the IT savvy).
