Sony lenses on a Nikon body is the ultimate cheat code
Nikon is lacking a little when it comes to their lenses but luckily this adapter allows to use Sony E-mount lenses with full functionality on a Nikon Z body. I use this adapter when taking photos and recording videos and the only time I’ve ever had a problem was when using a viltrox lens made for Sony(luckily viltrox makes Nikon lenses as well so if you’re set on getting one of their lenses you still can without the need for this adapter) and not to mention the fact that this adapter is so small most people can’t even tell you’re using one. Hope this helps!

Good adapter for mounting E-mount lenses on a Nikon Z body, drains battery
The Megadap ETZ21 lens adapter came in a nicely packaged box with caps, a clamp for firmware update, a user manual in Chinese language and a warranty card. I had to download the user manual in English from the Megadap website. The adapter came with the latest firmware version released back in June. The adapter itself is very thin, unless you look very closely, it is barely visible while mounted on the camera. The adapter is well made. Aligning the clamp on the adapter pins for firmware update was not bad.First time, I mounted just the adapter on the Z body and then attached the lens to it. Later, I found it is easy to remove the lens with the adapter, attach the adapter to another lens and then mount the lens with adapter to the Z body. Also, the switch on the adapter to dismount the lens is close to the Fn2 button. The switch does not block the button but would have preferred it was at the bottom.I am impressed with this adapter. The three lenses I tested so far: Full Frame Meike 85mm f1.8 AF, APS-C Sigma 30mm f1.4 and Sigma 16mm f1.4 have worked flawlessly on my Nikon Z5 body. I am assuming the Sony lenses will perform equally well or even better. I tested the lenses 100% indoors because I know the lenses will do just fine in daylight. I wanted to find out how it compares to the AF hunting I experience with the native lenses, particularly the Nikon Z 40mm f2 lens which hunts a lot even in decent lighting conditions. Except while using Pinpoint AF, I am yet to see the focus hunt in any of the other modes. The user manual does point out the drop in focus efficiency while using Pinpoint AF and I did experience it. The focusing has been very quiet. No issues with face and eye detection either, it has been spot on. The EXIF data recorded in the RAW files is accurate. The adapter does not have any weather sealing. Over the years, I have used camera body and lenses without weather sealing, so not an issue for me.I shoot mostly stills in AF-S mode but did test the continuous focus mode. The focus worked great following the subject and I tested this indoors in below average natural lighting conditions on an overcast day. The focus was able to track the subject even in movie mode, yet to see it lose focus.None of the three lenses I used so far have VR / OSS, so the body with IBIS works great. The Sony APS-C body I own does not have IBIS, so using the Z body in low light is a plus. Also, unlike for the native or F-mount (using FTZ) Nikon lens, the Z body does not automatically switch to the DX image area when using the e-mount crop sensor lenses.Overall, this is a great adapter to mount E-mount lenses on a Z body. This adapter has exceeded my expectations. I did not expect the autofocus from a 3rd party lens on this adapter would work much better than the native Z 40mm f2 lens.Update 22-Nov-22:Over the last few days, the OEM battery has lost all its charge twice without using it and the camera turned off. This is very disappointing, the adapter drains the battery while the camera is off. Last night at 9pm, I inserted a fully charged battery. After taking some pictures, the battery was at 95% when I turned the camera off. This evening at 5pm, I turned on the camera, the battery was at 70%. So, the adapter drained the battery by a percent / hour. I am knocking off a star for this issue, changing it to 4 stars.Update 25-Dec-22:Workaround to stop the battery drain is to disable the camera IBIS. Not ideal but now after taking pictures, I am turning the iBIS off. Getting better at reminding myself to turn it on before taking pictures and turn it off after I am done.

Buyers beware: No green focus confirmation for manual lenses
Focus by wire is the only thing useful about this expensive adapter to work on the batis lenses on a Nikon Z cameras. This feature should be on the adapter if you are not using the native Nikon adapter or on the older z7 model. I can’t believe it does not have the green focus confirmation on an expensive adapter and Pro version which is a real disappointment. The cheaper competitors like Neewer have this feature which I thought would have been standard. Please make sure the firmware updates to include this simple but useful feature and I will revise my ratings.

won over a skeptic
You bet I was skeptical this was going to work. I had accumulated some Sony lenses for video and thought okay why not try it, if it didn't work I'd return. Well boy howdy was I pleasantly surprised when this worked as advertised. The Sony lenses feel and act as if they were native Nikon lenses. The only downside is it's slightly awkward to switch from lens to lens or body to body. its not super smooth.
