Woodware Punch Tag top Punch scallop 1.5 or 2 or 2.5 inch gift tags CP807

A very useful punch for a very good price. It punches 250gsm card easily and produces tags of three sizes (1.5 inch, 2inches and 2.5inches wide) and the slots for each size are clearly defined; the header for each tag is different depending on the size with the largest having the curviest top (these can be seen in the picture); a hole with an embossed edge is punched at the same time. I love it and will use it a lot in my papercraft.

I brought this product as it's something I need for my crafting to cut tags with holes at the same time. I haven't been paid to write this review but feel I need to. The cost of this punch is relative seeing as its a 3 in 1 punch. This punch is very useful and punches 3 different size tags with holes, saving the need to use 3 tag punches and a hole punch as I have previously been doing. The wide lever on the punch fits my palm perfectly and was easy to push down to punch with paper and it easily cut 3 tags at the same time. It was a little harder to punch the lightweight card I used and needed a bit more force. I have found a few things I'm not keen on. The first being it was tricky to place 3 pieces of paper in as I did so 1 piece at a time and the first piece of paper kept moving when pushing in the next piece and so on, this caused the smallest card tag to be cut wrong as it can't be seen under the bigger pieces. The second thing is that there is not a cover on the back to collect the left over clippings so they go everywhere. It looks like there should be a cover as there are four holes underneath where a cover could/should be fitted, however this product came in a sealed pack that I had to cut open so a cover couldn't fall out. The third and final thing is that this punch cuts holes at the same time which is great but leave an embossed ring around it that may cause cracking in foil card stock (but I haven't tried this yet so this is just speculation). All in all, I do like this punch and hopefully it will last a long time.

Ok, I do like this a fair amount, and its a good price compared to some others that are double in cost. However, you do have to cut your paper to the width you already want the tags to be. There are three widths the cutter produces and you insert the correct sized strip of paper. You do need to cut your paper width very accurately though, otherwise your hole and the scallop will be off centre. This is the nuisance for me really, cutting the strips, and I wouldn't have purchased if I had know that was needed. This also means you get a nice scalloped top, but have to them trim the bottom of the tag yourself to the length you want, either in a straight line, or as I felt it needed a matching scallop I cut some curves. I don't think I'd understood the cutting process and thought it would cut the whole tag out of the paper, without additional work. Anyway, it does cut well, and I suppose you have the option of making tags of different lengths - I can see pros to this, as you could add other decorations to the tag and it gives plenty of writing space. I will keep it and it will be useful, but wasn't quite what I was hoping for.

This was very useful for my Christmas tags, they looked great just like shop bought. The whole punch itself is very sturdy and good quality, I have had cheaper ones before and can't really compare, worth the extra pennies :)
