MCAT Biology & Biochemistry Practice Questions: High Yield MCAT Questions

My son's practice MCAT score went up by 10 points from using this book along with the physics one. The answer key in the back covers many major concepts and ideas that students struggle with, and the book is relatively easy to understand. A few typos existed, but nothing that seriously impeded understanding the ideas. Also, if you're in a hurry/cramming, you can just look through the key at the back and you'll still absorb some new information.Best qualities-Diagrams of structure in the key for major organs (reproductive, excretory, circulatory, etc.)-Explains why wrong answers are incorrect to help solidify concepts-Covers a variety of topics, the section divisions are effective to aid learning

my roommate used this book to prep for the MCAT and she told me about it. I'm glad I bought it and used it for my studies. the questions were great to teach me the subtle differences between the concepts. I read all the explanations and these were invaluable to review and learn the material. The explanations are what separated this book from the others that I used. my roommate told me about it and I'm happy with it so I told other premeds about it. Great book.

The practice questions were great for me to practice and learn more biology. I thought I was stronger in biology than I actually was. Glad to have used this book to help learn this. The explanations were great. From the explanations is where I learned the differences between what I thought and what was true and what was accurate. The explanations cleared up some of my doubts and confusion. I feel much more preferred for the MCAT. After using this book, I'm glad that I actually practiced questions and didn't just assume that I know the MCAT biology material.

This is a mediocre book that hardly covers any MCAT biochemistry. If you look at the profiles of the "Most Helpful Customer Reviews" of this book, such as the profile of "Nick" and "paulc" and "Thomas G Charlton," you will notice that they reviewed similar Sterling books and gave these books the same 5 star ratings.FYI: People who are rating my review as "not helpful" are Sterling Test Prep employees

This is a good book for biology content review. There are many problems for the 20 chapters. Each chapter covers a different biology topic and there are about 60 questions per chapter so you can thoroughly practice each topic. However all the questions are stand alone ones which are in the minority in the MCAT. This book would have been better if it contained some passage-based questions (with a few passages) for each chapter. Regardless it is a good practice to test your knowledge of all the biology topics listed on the AAMC biology topic list. The explanations are often highly detailed with reasons why certain answer choices are wrong which improved my knowledge even when I got a question correct. I would recommend it to those who need MCAT biology practice.
