Smart Monk - 100% Monkfruit Extract Powder, 3oz / 85g

I have used this product for almost 8 years. It lasts a long time because a little goes a long way. It tastes the best of any of the Monk products that I have tried.

Excellent product. May need to stir to completely dissolve in beverage. Great in coffee, no aftertaste. Container lasts a very long time.

It is truly incredible how very little of this monk fruit extract you need to put into anything you do in order to get a sweet taste. I literally tapped my index finger onto the powder and brushed off maybe the very tip of my finger tip and it was perfect in a smoothie with a whole banana and cacao powder. No aftertaste. So this product is amazing but it absolutely MUST be used the right way. 1/32 of a teaspoon is way too much For a single serving of a smoothie, for example.

I would say, first of all, I've re-ordered this several times as I've used up what I purchased. It is an excellent sweetener overall. A sort of tea-like taste that blends well in drinks. In my experience though it doesn't stand up well to any cooking process which I personally use. It's more of an after cooking seasoning that needs careful blending with ingredients or a small amount of water so you don't end up with something overpoweringly sweet. If I had any complaint at all, it would be that the sweetness level for a specific measurement varies from container to container. I've had one which was about twice as strong as the average, and two that were half as strong as the average. This isn't something that you're going to have a problem with, generally speaking, if you use it the way I've used it. But it can lead to some inconsistent results if you're counting on it as part of a cooking process in that you wouldn't be actively tasting for the flavor change prior to cooking a batter or pastry.

We were desperate to find a low cal sweetner that my husband could use after his heart attack. This pure monk fruit is WONDERFUL! No additives that convert to sugar alcohols. Delicious sweetness for any beverage. I have NOT tried to use it in baking because he can have some sugar.

Then about a week later (7/7/19) had a full on grand mal seizure and was hospitalized for 4 days. I had told my roommate that I was going to stop using it due to my suspicion that the weird taste in my mouth occurred after about 3-5 days of use was from the Monk Fruit sweetener. Unfortunately she remembered this (concern about the monk fruit and when I was hospitalized she tossed out the container of "Smart Monk" so testing was not an option. However I had ordered another container of Smart Monk for a friend, a few days after ordering the first for myself....I had not ever considered the possibility of contamination of an entire lot of the product but he told me the other day he had quit using the sweetener as it made him feel (in his words) as if he smoked some weed....bad weed LOL. After seeing all the other reviews of funny tastes etc. I am going to see if he still has the container and how much it would cost to have it tested for contamination.

I first purchased it May 2019 for $25.00, then in December 2020 for $30.00, now in 2024 the price is $50.00. It is now 2024. I will continue to purchase it because the quality is so high and everything else has gone up in price for so many reasons since 2019! I mix it in a large container with one bag of Splenda, one bag of Anthony's Erythritol and this 3.5 oz container of Smart Monk. The results is a superior taste experience. Splenda sells blended mixtures, but I have no way of knowing how much Monk is actually in their product. The combination of the 3 has the magic taste and texture and I don't experience the gastric side effects that Erythritol, which is a sugar alchohol, is famous for!
