This back protector is way thicker than my other armor as it should be to prtocc the spine. I have never tested the effectiveness of this back plate and I hope to never get the chance, but it provides piece of mind. Get this if you're putting together your own riding jacket or shirt just beware that this is pretty big and needs a large armor pocket. I think it was made to work with other Scorpion gear.
