Excellent for delicate work
I've used several different soldering irons in the past for stained glass and jewelry projects. They include inexpensive sets, cordless pen style, and a Hakko soldering station that I used for leaded glass. I was really intrigued by this cordless kit, curious as to whether it would hold a consistent temperature. After charging the battery I did a quick solder of jump rings on a couple bracelets. Using the tip that was already inserted in the iron and the lead-free solder in the kit, I was really impressed with how well this model maintained a steady temperature. It worked great! There are several other tips included, and a tool for removing old solder when doing repairs. I doubt I will ever use this, as I've always used copper braid when removing excess solder. The kit doesn't include flux or a flux brush. The sponge that is provided is tiny! That was ok for me as I had those things on hand, but they are items that are needed so buyers should plan accordingly. This is not, in my opinion, the best choice for stained glass as the tips are all very small. Maybe to do a small repair on a Tiffany style window where being cordless could be a huge asset. For delicate work with jewelry or electronics, however, it is fantastic.

Great beginner soldering setup
This is not my first soldering iron kit, so I usually know what to expect when it comes to more cost-effective irons. Don't be mistaken, this is a great kit for the price. Much better than any other beginner kit I've purchased in the past. Not to mention the fact that it is portable! The station itself is essentially a lithium battery with a soldering iron attached to it. The station has a large knob for temp control which is great when compared to the tiny knob usually found on irons themselves. This knob is awesome and allows for much finer tuning of the temperature. There's also a stand for the iron itself to drop into. This is great and functions as intended, keeping the iron in a position away from other items. The kit comes with a few tips, all of which seem to work well if you maintain them properly. As always, I'd recommend using flux and cleaning your tips after use to help keep them in good shape. There's a few different size/shape tips depending on the application needed. It also comes with a little yellow sponge for cleaning the tip, although I'd skip this and instead get a brass sponge for cleaning the tip. The kit also comes with some tweezers that are always useful, and it comes with a small reel of lead-free solder. For most of my applications, I use leaded solder just for ease of use and durability. One thing I'd like to see, is the ability to use this iron in a mode that isn't portable. Currently, the only way to heat up the iron is when it is connected to the battery. When the battery runs out, you are out of luck and need to wait for a charge. There's no way to have the battery connected while it is charging unfortunately. This is more than likely due to the design of the station.Overall, I'd recommend this over most other beginner, entry-level soldering stations. It works well, and it is portable, allowing for use in the field reliably.

Complete portable soldering set
I have other soldering sets including a Weller soldering station. But quite often I need to solder just one thing quickly and don't want to take the time to get that station out and set up or what I need to solder is out away from power and I would have to run an extension cord. This battery powered set allows me to quickly pop on the battery pack and have it start heating up. It does heat up quick too! It comes with several assorted tips, a iron holder that attaches to the base, a small coil of solder, a pair of tweezers, a solder sucker and a small sponge to soak in water to wipe the tip on. The only drawback is there is no place to set the sponge in the base like other soldering irons have.

PORTABLE
This soldering kit has everything you need to get started. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a case to hold all the contents. It does have a cardboard box that separates the pieces quite well. This set is battery free and portable. It also has a stand to hold the soldering iron when not in use. I plan to use this on repairing and making jewelry. The soldering tips that come in this set would be great for that. The soldering iron seems to hold its temperature quite well which would help in jewelry and watch repair. This set comes with a variety of extras in addition to the soldering iron and 6 tips. It also has a fast charger, solder, wire bracket, yellow sponge, instruction manual, etc. It’s a good little set for the craftsman to add to his tools.
